Not really a phrase but a standard sentence uttered in most libraries, for many years.

I'm going to check the card catalog.
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

VHS or Betamax. I think we still have our Betamax in the basement somewhere.

I still have a VHS and video tapes. Oh yes, I do.

Radio stations no longer "spin the tracks".

Shoot! I was coming back in to mention this.

I was thinking about how I slightly missed not having a cell phone the other day. If you were out somewhere a person had to come get you, or call the business/establishment you were at and have you paged (or screamed for). You knew it was something important. No 25 texts about nothing while you are trying to eat.

Oh, I didn't mean VHS was obsolete, because I definitely have one and have video tapes, but the VHS vs Betamax convo at the video store.

Come to think of it, "Video Store" is probably pretty much obsolete now.

Ever tried to FIND a payphone lately? Yeah...what a joke. At least, where I'm at.

We have oneat my workplace. And it takes actual coins, not a card. I want to make a call from it one day just to say I did.

We passed one once when my baby sister and I were walking in Chicago and she was like "Omg! A pay phone! Can I use it??"

She also doesn't know how to work a VCR.

Obsolete things to say: "blah blah blah floppy disc"

And while I'm thinking of it, does anybody really "dial" a phone anymore?

It is basically obsolete. I have kept mine foe those under the radar cult classics that have not been released in other formats, and home videos.

Speaking of home entertainment... I have it on LaserDisc!

Unless you happen to have a rotary phone, no one is dialing.

You better believe it, baby! Rotary all the way!

Wait, is that really "dialing"? Is dialing more like...a telephone switch operator dialing the number for you?

It's dialing when turning a rotary dial.

This isn't really technology, but smoking sections in restaurants and stuff are disappearing.

So phrase: "Will that be smoking or non?"

Then you better believe I dial a phone. I unearthed a rotary phone from my parents basement and confiscated it!

Heh, another is "roll down the window". Obviously this is one that's still used, but will future generations even understand the origins of this phrase?!

But it will not steal your substance

My first week of grad school I said that to the lady at the check out desk and she was like...."you know how to use that?!!!"

Has anyone said, "get off the internet, I need to use the phone?"
I ain't thirsty. There's plenty of fish in the sea, but I don't want all of them, can I have some standards? Or do we just have to settle, for someone's who meh and will do.
