Bad hair days: what do you do?

I'm sure we all have them from time to time, especially when experimenting with products. What do you Curlies do when you are unhappy with your hair?

Do you find you start over the next day? Do you still wait a few days before removing all the product and throw your hair into up-dos until then? How do you "fix" a bad hair day?

Honestly, i can't remember having a bad hair days, really. Because when i'm going to try a new product, i try it first in home (one day that i'm not going out) just to see how it goes on my hair and if it works. And i do the same when i'm going to try a new hairstyle... So, at least, i can't remember having a bad hair day.

I would like to get more volume, and i am not always happy about not having it, but that's another thing LOL.

    Mix of 3C & 3B
    Medium porosity
    Low density
    Medium width

    Excuse my bad english

Depends on why it's a bad hair day. If I overdid a product and my hair feels gunky and stringy, I start over. If it's funky or broken up curls or a bit of frizz, it's an updo until wash day.

Depends on how much time I will have the next day. If I can I'll start over if I won't have time I'll put it in a ponytail till I can wash again. If its a little frizz problem I'll try spritzing a mixture of water and conditioner and glazing a little bit of gel. If it still looks too frizzy I'll clip the top of my hair back halfway so my bottom curls are still showing and leave a well define curl or two out to frame my face.

If it is really overly producty, braid it and wash as soon as I can - wouldn't be able to re-wash same day really.

If it isn't, put on a bit of leave in or oil and braid it. Keep up/back or loose waves from braid until next wash.

Yes, I wear a lot of braids. That's if a braid is a plait!

Trying out new things, still looking.

If I have rewetted and it still isn't helping my hair, then I will pull it back in a pony, or braid it. There are lots of cute and easy-to-do braids out there! Youtube is the best for finding them.

If I stripped it with too much shampoo and it's really dry and frizzy, I ponytail it for two days then start over. If it's gross/oily/gunky, I ponytail it for the rest of the day and then wash it as soon as a can. If it's limp and flat, I put on a head band to get some body. If a small part particularly looks bad, I pin it back with a bow :)

I'm a braid girl myself. Side braids work wonders. I use them on lazy days too, even when my hair would probably be fine. Or on days I would probably need to co-wash if I wanted to do anything decent, but don't have time to. Or just because :) My morning job is working with kids anyway, and the babies will play with my hair when it's down, so I don't wear my hair down often during the week. Braids are definitely my go-to :)

I resist the urge to redo it that day, I know that almost always makes my hair worse, especially if it was due to a product it doesn't like. As far as the next day I do usually start my routine over if I can. Until then it stays in its trusty French twist.

I do what my friends lovingly termed, "THE BLOB"
It's really just a ponytail high on the top of my head, then I pin the ends all round and it's like a curly blob of curls. Not a bun, just curls, all over. The longer the hair the bigger the blob.
I'm actually wearing one today. It's what I do on bad hair days

I like that term - "The Blob." I've done it a few times myself. I always get compliments when I do it! Now that you've mentioned it, I'm going to have to return it to my hairstyles :-)

today I was just too lazy to do anything with it, so here's the blob in full action:

braided the bangs, because they are annoying.

I agree. It depends on what you mean by bad hair days. So if I were to overdo product I'd wash it out as soon as I could and put it up in the meanwhile. Also twisting and winding back a few pieces in the front and securing them with bobby pins (letting the tendrils escape underneath) can make my whole head of hair look better because it's atypical of me to get too much product on the underlayers. Usually quite the reverse. Stupid underlayers. You're so hard to reach!

    P.S.

I think I'm going to have to steal HoC's new catchphrase,

"The longer the hair, the bigger the blob!",

and put it on a bumper sticker.

I just put my hair in a messy bun and forget about it... or spray it all over with water/conditioner and scrunch. 😊 If it is just kind of frizzy and undefined i mix water and conditioner in my hand and apply to problem areas.

If I have time, I'll start over by co-washing and adding my leave-in condish and hair oil. Then I comb it and pull it back into a ponytail since, given my hair length (or lack thereof), a ponytail is easier for me to do with wet hair.

If I don't have time, I'll pull my hair back into pig tails and fluff the ends a bit. I use bobby pins to clip back any stray hairs or frizz, then spritz on a mixture of conditioner, water, oil and serum. If I have to I'll apply a bit of hair gel (I use Suave gel) to get my frizz to lie down.
