You were cast in a movie and you learned to love the outdoors?

Love it! Grew my hair long and learned how to ride a horse! Now I am training for a 10 mile indurance race, but my trained said I had to lose 20 pounds to do it! I'm down 10! I am so happy with myself for overcoming my fear of horses at age 57!

    Wow!

    "Good on ya."

    Seriously --- good for you.

(I don't understand why you have to lose weight to be in an endurance race.)

Perhaps less weight makes it easier on the horse? Look at how small jockeys are.

Is it a horse race? I wasn't sure.

I'm guessing so. A 10 mile endurance race was mentioned up thread.

Even tough the OP doesn't look at all large, it makes sense for a horse to carry less weight for an endurance race.

I'll obviously never be doing this, lol.

Wiregirl, are you racing on the horse, or just on land yourself? I've never heard of an endurance race with a horse, but I could be wrong.

It is a 10 mile race (some are 30-100 miles) thru the woods over creeks, trees, and hills. The horses are checked at check points to have their blood pressure and heart rate checked. The winner is determined by the condition of the horse when they arrive at the end of the race. If you win the race (time) you could lose on your horse's condition!

I like that the horse's condition is taken into account. I don't like track horse racing at all.

I hope you are proud of yourself for getting over a fear like that! It takes commitment and courage! GOOD FOR YOU! YAY!!!

And weight loss is no easy-peasy thing either :D

    Your hair looks lovely!
