Cutting your own hair, would this be crazy?

I have been CG for 5 months now. I've seen my hair go from 2b-c to a s
Beautiful 3a. My problem is that I straightened my hair for 15 years or more, the ends are a loose curl, so e times a wave. I see a few places that curl beautifully, and then the last 2-3 inches just straight with a small curl at the end. I had a trim and t got better, but I see a few pieces that would just look better if I snipped them. Will I regret it? I am starting to see the curls, they are predictable now, I feel like it won't matter too much since I never straighten my hair. So? Bad idea? Good? I live a good 1.5 hours from any CG stylist so that's why I haven't done one, being a sahm and combo of the travel, I just can't make it happen. Wwyd?

I'd say go for it. I recently cut some flat-iron damage off myself, and I'm so glad i did. If you have some good mirrors so you can really see yourself from all sides, that'll help with the process. There are also quite a few YouTube videos on how to cut your own hair, and how to cut curls specifically.

Hi! Sure you can cut your own hair! Just make sure you have a trimming scissor (a regular scissor will cause split ends). I've been trimming my own hair since a couple of months! It's not difficult at all :) I do it when it's wet and I cut off an equal part from each section.

I think it's very easy to cut curly hair; because it's curly you won't be able to see it when you make tiny mistakes.

If you're going to wear it curly, I say go for it because little things don't show. Nevertheless, I just don't trust myself when it comes to cutting my hair evenly. I can do bangs and short hair okay, but longer hair is a challenge. I always seems to snip off more than I intended (thanks to curl shrinkage) and then I don't do it right. For instance, my stylist cuts my hair at angles. Diagonal lines from here and there. That makes the hair look more tapered, textured and encourages ringlets to form. I'm not so good at the angles. I wind up cutting straight across and that causes my hair to frizz/expand because the ends are sort of blunt it can have a fraying effect. It also messes my curls' shape. But that's my experience. Chances are you could have a real knack for it. :D

    Yup! Do it! :)

I cut my own hair all the time, but even when I have gotten my hair cut by others I still end up going back and snipping things!

Start off with a little bit - you can always go back and cut more length or even more pieces.

I cut my own hair, too. Google and find instructions and videos for confidence. And like someone else mentioned, use good scissors.
remember, with all advice or suggestions for your hair, YMMV!! :read2:
    My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
    My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
    RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
    LI: KCKT or CJSL
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.

I trim and shape (layer) my own hair now. Yes, I was scared, but I did my research and it turned out! I only cut dry, to measure length. Good luck:)
