Twists help hair grow.

in Hair Type 4
My friend always has her hair in twists ans her hair has grown a lot. I was just wondering if twists actually do help hair grow or not. I have been doing my hair for 2 months so far back and forth from cornrows to mini twists. I have seen some growth in the back. I want to hear if this is true from you guys. Thanks in advance

However, many find that the process of putting the twists in equates to more manipulation, so they opt for wash and goes. For me personally, I've found either style my hair will grow provided I keep moisturized, I'm gentle, and I'm not constantly in it. Try either and see what works best for you!
all hair grows, usually about 1/4 a inch every month. but on some people this monthly growth isnt apparent. why? because of breakage, their ends break off just as fast as their roots grow, so the hair strand stays the same length. this breakage usually comes from just everyday stuff like combing and brushing. so how do you stop it?
protective styling! braids, pin-up do's, and of course twists fall into this category. when these styles are in, you dont need to handle your hair daily, or even weekly so no breakage. the longer you can keep a protective style in, the more new growth you get to hold on to, like if you can keep your plaits in for a whole month you keep that month's forth of a inch.
of course for this to work you have to keep your hair well moisturised the whole time, because dry hair = easily broken hair

I understand that it is not the twists themselves but how keeping your hair in twists aids growth. Thank you for your reply though.

Ha! I understand what you mean. I do my hair in twists that are really small right after i wash my hair. i love it when i keep it that style, but i there is a point where you ahem to take them out. That is when sh*t gets ugly, REAAL ugly.
