Hair looking blah as Keratin fades?

I got a keratin treatment back in September, and now that it's February, my hair isn't looking so good. Much of the treatment seems to have faded--my hair frizzes almost as much as it did pre-treatment, but my curls haven't really returned to their 3a/b state (they're looking 2a/bish. It's also getting increasingly difficult to straighten them. My hair currently hangs down my back, and I plan on getting a few inches chopped off this weekend to fresh things up a bit. What I am wondering is--is this typical? Will my curls ever return to normal, or will I need to grow all this out and start over? Have any of you had similar experiences?

I avoid any and all oil in my products--oil absolutely kills my curls. I don't know how anyone uses products with oil.
The permanent nature of the curl relaxation works well for me. I've been BKTing for years, and I love it. Because it's permanent, I only have to do my roots now. One application is all my hair takes, but I wear my hair curly, not straight.
:lurk: Dood, get over it; there's no time limit on lurking.
