Will adding an egg yolk to my normal DC make a good protein treatment?

I'm low porosity and 2c/3a but my curls have been drooping and frizzing with the cold temperatures so I'm wondering whether it maybe needs a little protein hit? Iv never experimented with proteins yet so don't want to commit to buying new products just in case it goes wrong

I do egg yolks and rum and it works GREAT for my hair. You could prob leave out the rum, o sub any clear liquor you may have. I got the recipe from nc.com but I'm not sure why the rum? lol!

    lol Houseofcurls....

Then you go to the store, buy a couple of bottles of rum...
People start staring at you ("omg... she has so much rum... she's probably an alcohol addict" "oh, why, you wouldn't tell, she looks sober" "they all look sober, they can just act like they are not addicts") ...
Then you notice they are staring at you, and you go like: "What? Am I wearing something that's yours? I'm not going to drink all that rum, it's just for my hair"
And they'll think: "Poor thing... she doesn't even know she has a drinking problem"

    Loool :p

I use a whole egg, 2 tbs of coconut oil, 2 tbs of Moroccan oil Intense Hydrating Mask. I sometimes use jojoba oil or sweet almond oil. Then I leave it in my hair for an hour under a shower cap. Rinse with cold water (because of the egg) My hair comes out so soft and smells really good

My hair is thick 3b, so for you I would try 1 tbs of each and see how your hair likes it.

    I do this about 2xs a week

Another good way to add protein to your hair is to take biotin.

^^^oooh I have to try this. I am always on the lookout for a PT.

The best PT I have ever used is in my siggy, the Super Mayo PT. Wow! It leaves my hair strong and my curls pop all over the place!! I have ran threw bottles of PT and nothing comes close to this recipe! I highly recommend. Its a staple of mine.

The proteins in egg are far too large to penetrate hair: if anything is working it's more likely to be the fats in the yolk or other ingredients in the treatment.

If the super mayo treatment works it's because of the combination of penetrating oils (esp. coconut) and humectants (honey), that is a standard deep treatment and works well for many hair types. I find that makes my waves curlier also.

isn't there a smaller version of the super mayo treatment, one you need less ingredients for but that has almost the same effect?
