Curly girl cut: stylist used foaming shampoo?

curlypookscurlypooks Registered Users Posts: 49
I recently had a curly girl cut and Paul Mitchell deep conditioning treatment. (highly recommend!) when the girl who was cutting my hair (she had straight hair) washed it she used regular shampoo. I want to know why... Do you think she was using a special shampoo for the treatment? It seems to be the #1 rule not to use shampoos with sulfates. She took the curly girl training.. It's been bothering me. I was offended that she would do something so thoughtless. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt; was it for the deep conditioning treatment? Should I write a polite review? My haircut was fantastic and the treatment was superb, but my hair was frizzy for 2 days. It took 2 washes to get it back to normal.

I didn't notice until it was already in my hair, I have never used deva low poo so I thought that might be what she was using. I could tell it wasn't right when I got home. I should have asked in the salon, you're right

If you love the cut, I wouldn't post a "polite" review. If you're going back for another cut, just bring your own products. You can ask her what she used--if it wasn't something you want, your product is there. My salon has Deva and I won't let them use it on my hair. After the ingredients change several years ago, I found the NoPoo really drying. Took me a few days to get my hair back.

i agree with kathymack. it is about the cut, the products and styling are temporary. but, if it turns out she used a shampoo with sulfates, i'd just ask her to use the ones i brought.

I use Shea Moisture shampoos (in between the co-washes) that don't contain sulfates but they do foam. Are you sure it wasn't a sulfate free low-poo shampoo?

My curly cut is way too short and still hasn't recovered the curl yet.
    I'm bummed.

If it grows out this way, I'm going straight again.

Don't worry, curlypooks. What's most important is the haircut. Yesterday I got my hair cut and didn't realize until the hands were in my hair that my stylist was applying some sort of finishing shine serum. (Um, my hair is already very naturally shiny these days.) Anyways it was fine. I went home and poo'd it out and put some olive oil in my wet hair for a few minutes before rinsing and conditioning. Then I used very moisturizing products to style. My hair frizzed out some but it's better today and I love the haircut so much so I'm sure by tomorrow I'll be back on track. If not I'll deep treat. Next time, however, I'm going to specify no silicones in my hair and you can specify no sulfates. Bring your own low poo and I'll bring my kinky curly.
