Hair is less curly when shorter?? Pics

So I've noticed since I've cut my hair that I no longer get ringlets at the ends. I assumed it would get curlier with less length! Ive also noticed plopping and pixie curl diffusing aren't very helpful with shorter hair, though I LOVE them with longer hair. Here are some pics to demonstrate (sorry that the pics were taken in different places and the shorter hair pics aren't as good :/ ) the long hair pics are in summer and short hair are in winter.

First and second pics are first day hair with AIF, plopping and pixie curl diffusing (I did the creepy pose in the second one to show I don't have root curl)

Third pic is second day hair refreshed with water

Fourth pic is first day hair. Way dry. I was still figuring out my winter routine. I believe I was using just BB styling mudd

Fifth pic is third day hair refreshed with water after using BB styling mudd and VO5 passion fruit smoothie condish as LI the first day. Shiny but not too curly. My hair is usually curlier than this pic shows. It is the most recent. The only one where I have a Mohawk though you can't tell.

I would have added more pics but the curltalk app limited me to 5 lol

I hate to bump myself but...I'm doing it anyway. No one have the same problem with their hair?

I actually have the opposite problem. I used to get ringlets more often with short hair, but now that my hair is waist length, it's mostly just wavy.

Did you get layers? Because it might be that your hair can no longer clump like it used to.
-2b waist-length hair (ringlets in the front and canopy, straighter under-layer)
    -Dense head of med-coarse strands
    -Low
    porosity

It depends on curl pattern. Even some wavy patterns will get some ringlets at the ends with enough length. So yes, some curl patterns will look looser at shorter lengths. Others will look tighter. Sadly, there's no absolute rule.

My hair is the same way. I have a looser pattern at the crown, but the when it is longer I get ringlets towards the bottom. Too long and it gets weighted down and I lose curl tightness. I have found the sweet spot for my hair length and curls through trial and error.
