Hair breakage or new growth?

This is a copy and paste of my first post that nobody has replied to so I'm hoping that someone out there has dealt with this issue before and has great tips. I just want to know so I can stop cutting the funny looking hairs if they're not broken.

I'm not exactly a curly head I'm more of a wavy head. My hair is between 2b and 2c and about 27 in long. I've been hennaing and indigoing it since oct and it's nice, black and very shiny. What drove me to do henna and to find this forum was that a noticed a lot of short hairs on my crown from 1 to 2 in long that looked like they had been electrocuted kind of like zig zag shaped. I thought that they were broken hairs so i cut them off and then there's more. I'm not sure if they're the same ones or different ones or new growth if they're broken hairs or if that's just how they're shaped. A little bit of my background. My mothers side has fine or medium wavy hair and my dads side they all have fros. Is it possible that these are not broken hairs and just different type of hairs? When i do the curly girl method and wear my hair natural i don't see them but when i wash with a non sulfate shampoo and blow dry i see them.. Also i noticed that theres weirdly shaped shorter hair all over when i blowdry..Please help.

Probably a combo of breakage and new growth. Try not cutting them shorter (because they'll just grow back up) and try letting them grow longer. If I remember correctly, the average growth rate of hair is half an inch per month, so in just 2 short months, those hairs could be laying flatter. :)

The thing is that my hair was always dry and frizzy because i never knew how to take care of it. When i used to blow dry i used to use lots and lots of serum to the point where my hair looked like a mess. About ayear ago i learned how to blowdry properly and started caring more for my hair but i would still see these new little hairs looking like that. I'm just worried that my hair is going to keep breaking on the top. I don't wear scrunchies any more because of it. I wear these oversized hair clips in a way where i do not feel any pulling at all but those fried looking hairs are always there. They're all in my middle part and i have noticed that the long hairs in that area look a little like they're thinning and dry. I'm 29 years old in case you're wondering.
