Why do we still not have a Hall of Fame forum here?

jeepcurlygurljeepcurlygurl Posts: 19,250Registered Users Curl Connoisseur
I've been asking about it for many years. We have a Hall of Shame. Why don't we have a Hall of Fame? I always feel stupid posting positive things in a forum that's for negative things.
So now that there are new folks running the show here, how about it? Can we have a Hall of Fame forum?

Good things about our hair... Compliments from others or our own thoughts, I think!

    Good idea, jeep. :)

I think you're right. I would use a title for that forum that spoke more directly to general pro-curl sentiment, like "Curl Pride". Or something. It would include positive personal reflections on our own curly hair (and others'), plus it could include positive media stories, etc.

Great idea, jeepcurlygurl!!! Shout out one of the Guides for bringing this to my attention again.

There are some "show off your hair" threads around CT, but I think we could all benefit from some more daily hair inspiration from one another. One stop shop and more inclusive.

I agree -- it should be more about your photos and good hair days (but inevitably someone will ask what product was used to achieve said good hair day...) Encouraging things that have been said to you or days/moments that made you feel like a million bucks *struts* All great ideas y'all.

And hey!! i'm not "new folks" ;) old folks just in a different position lolol :happy2:

I'm a big fan of using Hall of Fame as the name. Curl Pride is good too. Any other suggestions?

I originally asked for a Hall of Fame forum years ago, when NC had far fewer different forums (I actually think we have far too many now but that's another issue).
We had nowhere to go for praise - whether it was someone complimenting our hair, seeing a total stranger with great hair at the dollar store who told us their secrets, a great salon, a curly role model proudly wearing natural hair on tv or in the movies, etc.
So people would comment about it in the Hall of Shame forum and it didn't seem right there.
I just liked the Hall of Fame name because it fit so well with the other one which I assume it would be next to.

Jeepy I just love your idea for the creation of a forum where we can post positive things about our hair, regardless of what title is chosen for it.

Hopefully your idea and this thread will be seriously considered by the Powers That Be :thumbright:

I'm am totally on board with the forum, JeepCurl.:) It only makes sense since this website promotes curl pride. And, I might add as I always do, "curls aren't just for girls."

    UPDATE:

Just going to let the mods officially know what's going on (but you know they're On It, so they're probably already aware of this convo :glasses7:)

My goal is to get Hall of Fame created today or tomorrow. Idk if y'all are aware of the process, but usually I have to run the forum description by our SEO guy to make sure people just searching on the web can find us easily. i got a tendency to talk in slangggg nawwmean lol

keep the rules & guidelines in mind because we may find a celebrity or another blogger/Youtuber's hair worthy of posting. Source everything. Link everything. And even if you give someone credit, they may simply be uncomfortable with their photo being shared on a forum, so keep that in mind as well. My biggest nightmare is that a forum turns into Tumblr, where nothing is ever sourced and no one knows where anything comes from :happy8:

Once again, shout out to jeepcurlygurl. you da bess

Hall of Fame is a very real thing now!

Check it out >> Hall of Fame discussion - CurlTalk

as the thread get used, I'll be able to fine tune the description if need be. But for now, it's basically just the direct opposite of Hall of Shame. HOF will be discussing curl pride in the media and also in our own lives.

    Thanks everyone.
