Old School Celebrity Crushes

Fifi.GFifi.G Posts: 15,490Registered Users
While commenting about an old celebrity crush, in another thread, I thought further back to my elementary school days. I would flip through the pages of teen magazines, rip out pictures of guys, and hang them on my walls. I will not list them all (boy crazy) but I will share 5 that often hung out in my room ;)

#1. Johnny Depp. I had over 40 pic's of him at one point.
ImageUploadedByCurlTalk1358578112.894038.jpg

#2. John Taylor. Sigh. I loved Duran Duran.
ImageUploadedByCurlTalk1358578167.161365.jpg

#3. (If I can stop laughing long enough to post) Kirk Cameron.
ImageUploadedByCurlTalk1358578269.839149.jpg

#4. Ryan Lambert. A.K.A, Rudy from The Monster Squad.
ImageUploadedByCurlTalk1358578313.507766.jpg

#5. River Phoenix. Be still my heart and RIP. He rivaled Johnny.

Who were some of your grade school crushes?
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

Do note this is post Bo Duke lunch boxes and pre NKOTB. So we're taking 4th-7th grade, for me. Gotta heart the 80's.

Michael Jackson. Every space of wall was covered with photos of him and I would scratch out Brooke shields' face before chopping her up with scissors in any picture of both of them. (That sounds so much more violent typing it out that it felt when I was doing it).

Haha. No judgement. I did stuff like that too, to different girls, and to George Michael. I cut him out of Wham pictures (I had a thing for Andrew) and used his face as a dart board.

Touching my MJ posters could also lead to death. My favorite came with the microphone :)

Disclaimer: I loved Wham, and loved GM's music but back in 82/83 I kept telling everyone he was crushing on Andrew, and they wouldn't believe me. I was frustrated.

My biggest crush was River Phoenix. RIP. A slight crush on Prince, that was my cousin's fault. She was going to marry him  Her bedroom was wallpapered with Prince.

Prince Rogers Nelson! My favorite musician of all time.
I would break into my brothers room just to look at his album jackets.

Yep. It used to kill me. I wanted to listen to his records non stop, but I was little and the lyrics were dirty. My brother bought 45's that I could listen too, and tried to keep the rest under lock and key. I learned how to pick locks. Lol.

For you Poodlehead. I remember the Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys show and also remember when all the Nancy Drew books (sold at school book fairs) had Parker on the cover. I still have some.

How cute. I remember thinking I would have had a crush on him, if I were a little girl.

I have been cracking up, while remembering all of my crushes. The majority seemed to be 10-14 years older than me, at that time. The ones closer to my age (River) were 4 to 5 years older. I apparently had a thing for older guys ;)

Now my list of lust worthy celebs mainly range from 35-45.

Yeah, he (JTT) was/is totally adorable. I think he turned 31 last year. I'm 28, so I think 3-4 years was probably my "older man" crush age. I never really had a thing for anyone too much older. I now have total opposite crushes (Helloooo nerd love Alton Brown. And much to Saria's disgust, I totally have a thing for Anthony Bordain.)

The ones that come to mind right now:

Bucky Dent (shortstop for the Yankees). I was around 8 years old and was convinced that I would marry him. Never mind that he was around 25 years older at the time.

Michael Jackson (years before he weirded out)-I was around 8 to maybe 18 when I crushed on him.

George Michael when I was in high school. Of course, this was years before it was revealed that he batted for the other team.

Simon LeBon in junior high and high school. A classmate got me hooked on Duran Duran.

If I'm going to say something about SBTB, I have to bring up My So Called Life. It premiered when I was 17 or 18, and was a more accurate depiction of High School, for me.

    Wooo! Jordan Catalano/Jared Leto

Omg I loved My So-Called Life! I had a major crush on Jared Leto. It so happened that I liked a guy who looked similar to him and had the same weird relationship Angela had with him. I was in 7th grade so 12/13 years old.

I also loved Mario Lopez even with his curly mullet on SBTB. I never liked Mark Paul Gosselar but he grew up to be one hot man.

I also loved the WWF now WWE. I had posters of Bret the Hitman Hart and the IRS Man. I'll have to find photos. I also had a huge crush on Adam Clayton and Bono of U2.

And how could I forget John Stamos? I hated Full House but my sister watched it literally for hours each day. He was so gorgeous and still is. ;-)

Oh and Luke Perry as Dylan McKay on 90210 before his relationship with Kelly after high school.

Dillon was very James Dean. Haha

I had to look MSCL up. I was 18, almost 19 when it aired. I had been out of high school for 1 year. I related to those characters. I didn't go anywhere without my combat boots, did my hair in crazy braids with beads @ bobbles, wore insane stuff (i was most original my senior year), had friends with crazy burnt out former hippie parents, homeless friends, had a similar relationship myself, and yeah, I went to school with several Catalano's.

If we're talking REALLY little and we're talking when I was about 5, Danny from FAME.

When I was in the 5th grade, I discovered Chris O'Donnell in School Ties and STILL have a crush on him! He's adorable.

I still remember this YM Cover and how darn BLUE HIS EYES LOOKED! I have fallen for so many Irish-looking men and I think Chris is to blame for that!

Johnny Depp...OMG! He gave me sexual feelings before I had any clue about that stuff! I remember having this pic on my wall. I still think he is hot to this day. tumblr_kocd8pSzqG1qzoaqio1_500.jpg

Also, Corey Haim, Simon LeBon (when Duran Duran was popular), Christian Slater (Gleaming the Cube!), Ethan Embry (but I think he went by a different name when he was younger, and I had a mad crush on Baltazar Getty too. These are all I can remember from middle school before I had a real boyfriend. I will do some googling to see who I liked in high school (other than Johnny Depp)!

I had a few crushes on that show, but I mainly remember thinking high school would be like that. You would sing and dance at random moments during the day :)

Christian, Christian, Christian. I had it bad for him the first time I saw The Legend of Billie Jean (Fair is Fair!!). I loved him in Gleaming the Cube. I was all about the skate punks.
