a place to share hair routines & tips! :)

hey all

i am fairly new to trying to full be come a curly girl!

i was wondering if we can all share our shower routine w our hair, products & how we style :blob7:

we can give each other ideas and tips i think would be fun!

i will soon post of pic of my hair, probably later this afternoon

**
for me-
right now i am using hair chemist macadamia oil shampoo & conditioner
the shampoo i only use in my roots & rinse, the conditioner i slather on after and leave in shower for 5 minutes, once a week i do a deep overnight treatment with coconut oil, macadamia oil & olive oil.

when i get out of shower i leave my hair in a microfiber towell (today actually going to try my husbands teeshirt ive heard great things) for like 5 minutes, then comb with a wide tooth comb and i take my leave in my miracle 7 and some argan oil put it all through out my hair avoiding roots. i then twist my hair in a high bun and put towell back on for another 10 minutes to soak in product.

after that i take my hair out, add my treseme mousse & ion spray gel and start diffusing.

after diffusing i take my curling iron and go over a couple of stubborn spots (mix of 2b/c front and sides) ANNOYING! lol and finish w some loreal texturizing cream.

my hair has been pretty good using this method. but i really wanna try redken fresh curls line!

would love to hear everyones routine!!! :)

    Interesting topic!

First I wash with Daiso conditioner...

Then I use Desert Essence Red Raspberry as rinse out and I detangle.

Then I rinse my hair with icy cold chamomile herbal infusion (I have light blonde hair, but some spots are darker. I use chamomile to lighten it a bit). I let it cool down after I make it because a cold rinse gives great shine.

After that I scrunch Beauty Without Cruelty leave in in my hair. Then I seal my ends with some jojoba oil. My hair is easily weighed down.

Then I scrunch some gel in. Then I plop with an old cotton apron, lol. Very convienent actually. I plop for about 15 to 20 minutes.

After that I let it air dry.

I've ordered a diffuser blow dryer, can't wait to try out the pixie diffusing method. :)

And I do regularly a deep and protein treatment, of course. For deep treatment I usually make an oil blend and heat it. For protein treatment I use EO Keratin conditioner coconut and hibiscus.

I usually massage my scalp with Jamaican black castor oil before I go to sleep. And sometimes I apply some extra coconut/argan/or other oil to my ends.

    Hi,

I am still new to the CG method, so my routine and products are still morphing as I try new products. I have been sulfate free since July 2012. I had been using BS/ACV but found it was stripping my color. Then I started using the Giovanni 50/50 poo and condish, but I really didn't like how my hair felt after the shampoo (like dry straw even though it was wet, and very knotted). Then I saw the L'Oreal Cleansing conditioner and LOVED how my hair felt and looked when using that, but when I bought the 2nd bottle, they must have changed their formulation because it smelled much stronger and was a different color.

:toothy7:Then I found the CG Method, watched tons of YouTube videos (mostly WaterLily716's, bought the book, and was convinced! So, here is my routine now:

    1. Co-wash daily or every other day with TNNM or As I Am coconut cleansing condish (which I use once a week or so) scrubbing my scalp thoroughly with my pads of my fingers. Then rinse while massaging my scalp.

    2. Apply either Matrix Biolage or GVP CB until it feels like seaweed.

    3. Finger comb or use my wide tooth shower comb and leave it in my hair for 2-5 minutes.

Here is where I change it up still, trying to find what my hair responds to the best:

    4. Rinse out like 80%-100% of the CB under warm water and then do a cool/cold rinse.

    5. Finger scrunch out some of the water. Apply a dime size amount of the TNNM or CB as a LI. I think my hair likes the CB better as a LI.

    6. While still in the tub, I then apply my products. (I find it less messy that way with the dripping water.)

I apply CHS CK (quarter size amounts to each side of head) by smoothing it on. Then I apply either HESMU, Aussie, LA Looks, or FSG as my gel.

I then scrunch some more to further induce the curls. Then I scrunch a bit with a T shirt.

    7. I plop for between 15 minutes to 45 minutes with a long-sleeved T shirt.

    8. I either air dry or diffuse with a bowl diffuser using the pixiecurl method until my hair is like 80% dry.

This is a new step for me:

    9. For added volume at the crown of my head I use Octopus jaw clips placed on either side of my part, and at the back. It has been working like a charm so far!

I have yet to figure out how to do 2nd day hair. I pineapple and sleep on a satin pillow, but have trouble refreshing my curls without inducing frizz. I actually posted about this looking for tips, so if anyone has any, please post there!

I know a number of people who are CG who do not co-wash. They use sulfate-free shampoos. Still completely CG (Lorraine Massey even mentions sulfate-free cleansers as an option in the second edition of her Curly Girl book).

I repeat this process every 3-4 days

Co wash with Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut
Condition with Suave Professionals Rosemary & Mint...leave it on for 15 mins, detangle with denman brush, and thenv rinse out
Use 2 quarter size amounts of KCKT mixed with olive oil on soaking wet hair
My styling product changes a lot but I've been using Tresumee Flawless Curls moosse, so after raking that through my hair I'll plop until I finish getting dressed/makeup, add a little bit of gel to my baby hairs/edges and go!

I do DT with mayo and olive oil or Moroccan Oil Deep Repair Masque on sundays.

Just started a new routine, because I disliked SOTC-ing...

I have to say, this is the first time that, at the end of the day, my hair was still soft, and pretty defined. The back was a little dry, but I think I just need to mess around with product application a little more.

I co-wash with Tresemme Naturals (either the Radiant Volume or Nourishing Moisture, depending on whether I've hit my aloe limit for the time being).

I currently don't have an RO. I used to try using TNNM, but my hair didn't really respond much at all. Unless I feel like a little protein from AOHR or AOCR, I don't have an RO conditioner. I may use TNNM to detangle something though.

I apply my leave-in in the shower now (or at least start). I use a lot of Kinky Curly Knot Today, which I first smooth over, then rake through. (At this point, the shower water is still running). I wet the section (it takes a while for my hair to get wet) and rake more through until I see the clumps form, and then I move on to the next section (until I'm done).

On the weekend, I either DT with Curl Junkie Rehab or TNNM mixed with a little bit of castor and a good amount of jojoba oil. I apply it to my hair until it feels like seaweed and it's completely drenched, then I put it in a plastic cap and then under a heating cap, where it stays for about an hour. When I take it out, I have the greatest clumps ever~~~

Discovered a new technique this week while fixing my hair. I guess if I were to give it a name I'd call it the "bump it" technique. It's for if you want a bit more volume at the roots and canopy area so that the area doesn't dry flat. Let me say first that I get out of the shower, apply my leave in to sopping wet hair, then I scrunch squeeze excess moisture with my microfiber towel before I apply my styling product. That is just what works for me because scrunch squeezing with my MF towel after applying styling product seems to dilute product's staying power and mess up the way I styled it. So again, when I do scrunch squeeze the drip out of my hair I do it with my head tilted and down, CG style! I bring the cluster of curls I've cupped with the towel up to my hairline and at the roots, right where I part my hair. If I stop just an inch before the part while I'm drying and just hold it for a moment, I notice I get a nice little BUMP! It makes the hair springing from my part more poofy with more volume. Then I'm just careful not to disturb the "bump" on either side of my part while I style. My hair dries with a nice touch of volume on either side of the hairline. I guess though if you wanted to secure it you could also use clips while drying. So just a small whatdoyaknow I discovered by pure accident when I happened to be drying my hair and looking at the mirror at the same time. I was all "I wonder. . ." and it worked! Tralala. :walk:
