WOW and hi from a Newbie

Hi Everyone! I want to immediately say Gretchen this site is amazing, I am absolutely thrilled, I FINALLY feel that I am NOT alone. Here comes the cry for mercy.....HELP ME! My mother owned salons my entire life, while my sister embraced the industry, I gagged and ran the other way, sticking with braids, pig-tails and buns. Mama and Sister begged me not tell people that I was theirs! (smile) I was tortured as teen (red naturally curly hair) BUT now to my amusement the chickies that terrorized me now pay alot of money to PERM and COLOR their hair.(hahahahahaha) Ahem....this is my problem I read the definition of types of curly hair (very awesome) and finally correctly noted, I fall into the 3A, B and C category. My top layer is loopy shirley temple curls my second layer is is much tighter (cannot even get a pick thru) and the hair around my head/hairline and neck is just pure wicked, afro, fuzz. I wake up every morning looking like Medussa, with terrible rats nests (haha) tangles. Now what, what do you suggest? I have been toying with the idea of chopping it off or putting shorter layers. (when I was 12 I told my mother that she knew nothing of hair designing and let her assistant cut my hair) BIG MISTAKE she put short layers in and I not only looked like a streubal hen but it took 3 years for my hair to grow back. So I am scared, I facilitate for the Big 3. Problem 2 I cannot see the ingredients of the products on the site and just about everything that I have come across in the salons and otc has ALCOHOL as the first or second ingredient. We know what that ingredient does and my hair proves it. I am in Michigan, and the weather is horrific on my hair all year. I have done the scrape test after two weeks of using a new product and not only does it gross me out, but I can see why my hair is damaged. I am at my SPLIT END please help and expect several new members very soon, I had to tell them all about "" Thank you and once again this site it awesome!!!

Regards and looking forward to new friends and higher intelligence dealing with cell deformities (aka) natural curly hair!!

    Welcome Carlotta!

You'll have a better chance of getting an answer if you post at one of our many boards for some tips and suggestion. BTW, your hair sounds so beautiful. I love red hair. I would try to stay away from short layers if your hair is very curly. I have long layers for my 3b/c
    3b/c CG routine
