How do you use a sleep bonnet?

Well I know you put it on your head (haha), but do you twist your hair in there, pineapple it, scrunch it in...I have no idea. Mine just arrived in the mail (Donna Satin Bonnet & Sleep Cap) and I've been experimenting with how to put my hair into it, but it just gets all mushed up.

I have just-above-the-shoulder-length hair and can pineapple with a few layers coming out of the elastic. Also, I'm assuming my hair should be dry when I put it in, or can I wear it with wet hair?

Thanks for answering my questions! I am looking forward to 2nd day hair!!!

I hang my head upside down and then kind of "stuff" my hair in, so that it's sort of like dry plopping. I basically always do it with dry hair, but you could try it with wet. However, I find that if I don't put my usual styling products on it when wet, the next day my hair was insanely huge and frizzy. So I would recommend doing your usual styling process before putting it in the bonnet, if you are doing it wet. Otherwise, if you are doing it dry, just stuff it on in! :)

I think most folks get mushed up hair the next day, but I've found that it can much more easily be re-styled when I sleep in a bonnet than when I don't. I just spritz it with water, or sometimes with a combo of water, sea salt, and lavender essential oil (just a tiny bit of the last two mixed in with the water).

I've seen others who braid or twist their hair before putting it in the bonnet, so hopefully they will reply with their techniques. If you find a method for second-day hair that works really well, please do share. You would be living the dream! :happy3:

    Thanks!

I experimented a bit and found if I did a loose pineapple I could get it into the sleep bonnet. I tried every which way to get my hair in there without an elastic but I just couldn't!

I shower at night which is why I was so interested in the sleep cap. I used a bit of gel and oil and diffused my hair dry. Usually I would pineapple it wet and it would be dry in the morning but look kind of weird and I'd have to wet my hair and use gel and scrunch. I'm hoping I'll just need a bit of water and a little scrunch to get my hair going tomorrow morning.

    I'll post the results!

sleep bonnet success! i tried out your mixture of sea salt and water (didn't have essential oil) and put it in my old toner spritzer bottle. i just spritzed, scrunched a little, and put a little hairspray and my hair looked great!

totally stoked on the sleep cap. hooray!
