Curly hair ends keep drying straight

Hey everyone! I'm new here so this is exciting to have a community to ask..I normally have 3A type hair and hardly ever style it, but recently when I've been washing my hair and letting it dry, the top will still be relatively curly but the ends just go completely straight. It's the most bizzarre, frustrating thing! Ive bought a (too expensive) super moisturizing shampoo and conditioner from the salon I go to and have even done a bit of diffusing, but its still not really cooperating. Any suggestions/tips/life experience? Im not sure if its just the weather drying it out or if I'm doing something wrong..

I've attached a picture, so hopefully that will help! Thank yall so much!

Sounds like damaged, dry ends that aren't retaining moisture!

I would say try a protein treatment weekly, and use a TON of moisture. Also consider sealing in the moisture with an oil.

A big question here is are you CG? And if so, have you tried a clarifying wash? If not, what are you washing with and how often? What's your routine?

This happened to me recently for the first time. It was after highlighting my hair for the first time in many many years so agree with it being damage.

Everyone nailed the possibilities: Possible damage, whether thermal or chemical; in need of protein, in need of moisture, need to switch COwashing.

Also, the ends of you hair are the oldest and generally have been subjected to the most handling and/or abuse. In addition to the other suggestions, you might benefit from a trim, or even from letting go of those few inches.

My ends used to look like that until I went CG. Ie no sulfates no drying chemicals in my hair products. But the main thing that helped them get back to curly was moisture. I used a conditioner & leave in. Id put my conditioner on in the shower, pile it on top of my head, put a shower cap on & leave on for at least 5 minutes to let it really soak in. When i was done with my shower I'd scrunch the leave in with my hair flipped over right after the shower when my hair was still really wet. Then add my styler. Plop, then diffuse with my head flipped over. It took a couple weeks as my ends were sooo dry to get back to full curly but I noticed an improvement after every wash. I also got a deva cut and that helped a lot with overall better curl.

Personally I would trim the ends and try CO.
