2c or 3a?

Hey all! I'm trying to figure out if I'm a 2c or a 3a before I start doing CG! This is my hair with a little spray gel and air dried! Thanks

Looks similar to mine and I consider myself a strong 2c.

Looks more 2c right now, but I also see some definite 3a potential. Of course it's important to remember that curl pattern isn't nearly as important to know as your hair properties (texture, porosity, etc) since it's the properties that will really impact what products will and won't work for you.

When I did the porosity test it showed low porosity, I'm not sure how to check the texture or anything else, I'm just starting out and I would love any pointers that anyone has!!

Was the porosity test the float test? There's been a lot of discussion on here over the accuracy of the float test... Other ways to determine porosity involve hair (without product) drying time, how easily your hair gets wet, whether or not your cuticle is rough when you run your fingers up it.

Density can determined by measuring the circumference of your hair in a ponytail.

For texture you can look at the individual strands and see if they're nearly invisible. I actually used a micrometer to measure couple individual strands. :glasses3:

Here's a helpful blog that will explain all of this much better than I just did: Pedaheh's Hair Blog: April 2012
    Wave Pattern: 2A
Hair Properties: Normal/Low Porosity, Medium Density, Medium Texture w/Fine Straight Underlayer
    Co-wash: Suave Naturals, Cure Care
    Low-poo: Renpure Brazilian Keratin
Rinse Out & Leave In: Tresemme Naturals
Gel: LA Looks Mega Mega Hold Gel, Garnier Fructis Spray Gel

Ok so I think I'm a 2c/medium/normal volume according to the awesome site you suggested! I bought some suave naturals coconu conditioner and I also have some natures gate tea tree conditioner. I'm trying to find other products to use but I don't really know what I'm looking for. Any suggestions?

I'm not terribly good when it comes to product suggestions. I mostly just know what my hair likes. I also only buy products from drug stores...

I love the Suave Naturals Coconut Conditioner. I use it as a co-wash and occasionally as a rinse out and leave-in. There is protein in it though (Silk Amino Acid), so if some hair types may not like it because of that.

Some general suggestions that a lot of people here use:
    - Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee
    - Aussie Instant Freeze Gel
    - Shea Moisture Shampoo/Conditioner

The products I use are in my signature. One easy way to find stuff is to find people with similar hair properties and see what they're using. A lot of people put that stuff in their signature.
