    Happy New Year!

Neutral: Kyra's Ultimate Indulgence Sweet Mango Butter and Mango Moisturizer. The thing that bothers me about these two is that they have an equally strong scent that I really, really hate. Doesn't even smell like mangoes... more like a strong citrus-y perfume scent from Bath and Body Works. The scent hasn't worn off on my hair yet. :/ On the plus side, I love their consistency. The moisturizer doesn't leave my hair feeling greasy, and the butter leaves my hair feeling soft. Unfortunately, I won't be repurchasing these again.

Hit: my twist out has been BANGIN'

No misses yet. I'm about to go back to my flat twisted updos, so I probably won't have any. It's winter, I want to work out and not care about doing my hair every night (I hate that), so I'm going back to my PSing for the rest of the winter.

Hit: Detangling on dry hair with the QBCTDG! I was so scared about doing this but I'm glad I took the challenge. My hair didnt rip out or anything like I thought it would. This stuff is definitely a life save on dry hair.

Miss: Shampooing the soft hair that the QBCTDG gave me after applying and detangling. :(

Miss: (second impression) Carol's Daughter the original Hairmilk Curl Definer (or whatevers), still greasy too the touch and my friend bought me the new milk transition kit. *wrings hands*

Neutral : the CD curlmilk curl pudding, don't know what to look for? only tried it on on a old piece of untwisted slightly dampened hair, and it didn't wow me. the lightly scented moldy baby powder scent didn't help matters either.

Hit: The shea moisture that was in my hair from last year giving the right side of my head bounce!

    Misses:
Twisted Sista Curl Definer. Even though they took away the mineral oil and added argan oil, this is still a miss for me.

UFD Extra Butter- just meh. Nothing special. It's on the swap board if anyone wants it.

Elasta QP Olive Oil and Mango Curl Pudding-wanted to use this for a twistout but the smell was too much. On the swap board.

Total miss: trying to air dry a rod set when you are very impatient and your hair has extremely low porosity. Failure.

Continued hits: Keracare leave-in and twist and define cream.

    mop leave-in conditioner
-I ordered this from Curlmart and the ingredients listed on the website were different from the product I received which upset me. I however, loved the product itself. I like it best applying it to freshly washed hair and sealing with a butter. My hair stays soft for 3 days. I am not impressed with the price for the small amount of product received (6.76 ml). I still will rebuy!

    MopTop daily conditioner
-My new favourite rinse out conditioner (I haven't tried it as a leave in yet but I never rinse all of it out!) It smells great, it helps me detangle the knots in my hair and it gives my fine fragile hair a boost of protein.

Ouidad OMEGA-3 Replenishing Hair Treatment. I followed the directions which is to leave in for 3 minutes and then gently rinse and wash hair. When I was rinsing it out, my hair felt like I had just clarified. It. I then shampooed, conditioned and twisted my hair with my usual styling products. The next day my hair was dry and rough. I had to clarify and deep condition it to get the moisture back.

Here's the thing, this product has a long ingredient, C10-40 Isoalkylamidopropylethyldimonium Ethosulfate, which is the same ingredient used in hair dyes. I'm no chemist but I think what this product does is open the cuticle to let moisture in, Well that's not ok if you have highly porous hair. My hair needs products that close and smooth the cuticle.

Anyway, it was a disastrous fail and it goes back to Sephora for a refund. Oh BTW it has absolutely no slip and no detangling properties.

Neutral/Miss: This is a bit of a hair rant. O.K was in the mood for a bit of a straight hair look to switch things up. I went to this place that had my hair laid a year ago and thought why not go back? I got a rinky dinky wash, blowout, a trim (which was really a haircut because a trim, my hair did NOT need), and a press and bump with some cheap iron. My hair was poofy when complete, I requested a wrap, and got the laziest doobie, I have ever seen in my life! As I horrifyingly accepted my fate in life, the time came to pay. Wait for it!....Wait for it.....Wait for it...the price came up to $100.00!:sign6: (scratching my head)
*takes a deep breath here* Seriously what was the point of that!? I came home with poofy hair that I had to "fix" myself and needless to say that person did not get no damn 100 dahlahs from moi. I cannot and I will not. /rant

Hit: Washing my hair. Yep. That's it!
How did I ever go all those relaxed years washing my hair only when I got touch ups (every ~8 weeks?). You'd think I'd been tasked to bring about world peace the way I've been scratching my head. Geez! Laziness/sloth is definitely a deadly sin.
My hair is in the 4s, low in porosity, high in density and coarse. :happy6:

Love: QB - all of it, Bobeam - shampoo bars, Darcy's Botanicals - Pumpkin Seed Conditioner, Coconut Cupuacu Pomade, KBN - Shealoe Leave-in, Oyin - Juices & Berries, Kinky Curly - Knot Today, Ayurvedic treatments, my Denman and the cloud of kinky goodness on my head that I get to play with! :love8:

Curls Coconut conditioner or whatever it is called. No slip at all. Had to use half the bottle to detangle my hair. I'll use the rest of it in my henna melt mix.

Soultanicals taking forever to mail my Knot Sauce. I placed the order on the 1/2. I really can't do this long wait with hair companies anymore. Trying my patience....

    Mega Miss again:
Komaza Aloe my hair spray. I tried to use this again and I just can't stand the scent. Also it does not detangle my hair. I poured the sample down the drain.

Miss: my hair clogging the drain in my tub so much I needed to use a bottle and a half of draino.

as a preventive measure, i use 1 box of arm and hammer baking soda and 1 gal of cheapie vinegar to clear my tub drains every 3 months. i pour a little at a time of the baking soda straight down into the drain, then pour the vinegar on top of that... it creates a chemical reaction to clear your drains naturally.

Have tried looooooads of new stuff lately and the majority have been hits. Some were from December, but hey. Here's what I can remember so far:

1/ Curl Junkie Daily Smoothing Condish as a leave-in
2/ All the soaps in the Bobeam Butters & Bars set I got at Thanksgiving. And the ACV sample she sent. And the mini candy cane. Which I am so grateful she included because it took everything in me not to at least taste the shampoo bars, they smell delicious! I haven't tried the butters yet, but will do at my next wash.
3/ Bee Mine Deep Conditioner. Thanks so much to everyone who recommended this as a substitute for Curl Rehab. I have to admit I wasn't really expecting much, but it truly is amazing!
4/ The Bootleg Curl Detangling brush as recommended by Cerendipity
5/ KBB Butter Love to twist my parched hair in a relatively harsh london winter
6/ Using a steamer. I started in November and have definitely seen improvements over time
7/ Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle to detangle. Found a whole bottle of this left over from one of my not-so-recent trips to the States. Had forgotten I had it, I used to use it as a cowash. Decided to detangle with it after pre-pooing with Bee Mine and my steamer and then washing with Bobeam Honey and Oats, and the brush went through my hair like butter.

    Unfortunately...

    Miss

1/ Being carried away by the slip of the Trader Joe's TTT, and deciding to leave it in and not seal adequately. A day later and my hair felt like straw. Have had to cowash to rectify. Other than that, a great month so far.

I love Trader joe Tea tree Conditioner for its detangling ability. It is not a leave in so do not use it for that purpose. But as a detangling conditioner, it is the best.

I hate Shea Moisture Conditioners. Poor detangling ability, at least for me. I love their curl enhancing smoothie but not as a styler but deep Conditioner.
