Anyone have a problem with the nape area?

The nape area is breaking off bad and I can't seem to get it to grow. I have tried castor oil. I also wear a satin bonnet to bed every night. It not too tight or anything. I have notice that my texture is different. It's very soft and what hair I have back there is defined. Please any suggestion?

How long is your hair and what is your routine? I have had some breakage in my nape because my hair is finer and it's gotten caught on my necklaces a lot...I have a necklace I never take off so it's an issue at times.

Well its not touching my collar bone unless I pull it then it touchs but in it natural state it doesn't reach. I don't know how to get it to grow back it's been broken off since july and I the reason it broke off was because of the weave I had gotten. I think she braided it too tight.

My nape is actually the fastest growing section of my hair, and kind of like what you said, it's a bit different from the rest of my hair--except that it seems to be less defined and the curl pattern is a lot looser.

With that said, you've just got to treat it right. Don't skip out on that section when you deep condition. Is castor oil the only thing you put on it? If so, that may be why you haven't seen any progress. Your hair needs moisture, oil is not a moisturizer.

I get horrible tangles there, no matter what I do.

I care for my nape differently. The only way I can keep it moisturized is to shampoo and condition and seal it almost daily with a gentle poo bar. It is looser and very soft. My nape doesnt respond well to cowashing. I think it is because my hair is prone to buildup but my nape is very prone to buildup. I

I never though about caring for my nape differently from the rest of my head. It does seem to retain length much slower, and on the right side of my nape I seem to have a tighter texture while on the left it is looser. Hmmm, this has got me thinking...

I have issues with my nape. Its extremely fine and knots a lot. I find that it fairs best when it in twists or braids and super moisturized(daily).

Thanks for the tips. I want to be able to wear my hair up. I thought about shaving it in the back but I think it may look crazy. Right know my hair hangs pass it and you can't see it's broke off. My routine lately has been WNGs sometimes I do twistouts. I have been using shea moisture that I just got and some essential oils (coconut oil, jojoba oil, and avocado oil). I also started using the terressentials so I don't know if it would be good to just shampoo the back. I will try to keep it moisturized.

I never did either. It just kind of happened. I got a small sample poo bar from Hennasooq that I knew would go very far so I started using in the back. I noticed my nape hair responded very well when I followed with a conditioner. I also have trouble keeping my edges moisturized. That hair is similar to nape and the shampooing is helping their too.
