Emerald!!!

I'm actually kind of excited for this choice, despite not developing a fondness for green until earlier this year, and then gravitating to muted shades in action. Can't explain the insta-love  ...but I welcome it :love7:

It's my favorite color. I always gravitate to it and I'm not even sure it compliments my brown skin. I don't care, though. It's such a happy color.

Hmm. I'm not a big fan. I usually think of emerald as deeper and more vibrant, more jewel toned. I wasn't expecting the swatch to be so pale when I clicked on the link. Maybe it will grow on me.

I love emerald and it's a good color for me. I think I should get an emerald ring to match my new wardrobe color. Yea, I like the deeper emerald color, also.

Hmm... That looks more like kelly green to me than it does emerald. I agree that emerald is a jewel tone and usually darker - even the stones they show are darker despite the fact they're not opaque.

Green is my favorite color, particularly hunter and emerald - but not that "emerald" they show.

Yes--"kelly green"! I couldn't think of the name of it.

Me too. Although... it's a good color choice. As an aside, I hate when companies use color names loosely. Maybelline's Edgy Emerald is actually a light seafoam green. Weird...

Scientifically speaking, color is divided into three components: hue, saturation and tone. Emeralds occur in hues ranging from yellow-green to blue-green, with the primary hue necessarily being green. Yellow and blue are the normal secondary hues found in emeralds. Only gems that are medium to dark in tone are considered emerald; light-toned gems are known instead by the species name green beryl. The finest emerald are approximately 75% tone on a scale where 0% tone would be colorless and 100% would be opaque black.[6] In addition, a fine stone should be well saturated, the hue of an emerald should be bright (vivid). Gray is the normal saturation modifier or mask found in emerald; a grayish-green hue is a dull green hue.[7]
Emeralds are green by definition (the name is derived from the Greek word 'smaragdus', meaning green).[8] Emeralds are the green variety of beryl, a mineral which comes in many other colors that are sometimes also used as gems, such as blue aquamarine, yellow heliodor, pink morganite and colorless goshenite.[9]

I like this color! I'm pretty sure it looks good on me, too...

I will admit it's not usually what I think of when I think "emerald." But I'll take it!

I love green!! But I'm not a fan of emerald (well, only in certain objects) but this looks emerald to me. Kelly is more yellow. I like kelly. This color has more blue, making it more emerald. I do see how it could be darker

I love emerald green! I love green in general, and have much of it in my wardrobe already. Very few shades look bad with my complexion and most bring out my green eyes.

    Nice choice.

The cynic in me is trying really hard not to rain on anyone's parade but...

    ..it's green.

Much like blue, red or orange, it's sorta kinda been around since time immemorial.

    I know, I know. I'm no fun.

From now on I'm calling that color green beryl, since I don't consider it emerald. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing what I take Emerald to be (bluer, deeper), and they're giving it a little bit of play, but yeah, they're not zeroed in on it like the name suggests.

Nej, I enjoy seeing oxblood around too!

Pantone sees Monaco Blue being to Spring 2013 what oxblood was to this Fall.

I thought the new color trend was that strong blue (like above) I don't know fancy names for colors.

Or maybe the blue is only for clutches.

I love all shades of green, but I don't wear it much. Probably comes from years of being told, "But redheads have to wear green!"
