I have a sinus infection

Is it normally this painful? I swear, I don't think I've felt pain like this before. Maybe I've never had a sinus infection. I am in AGONY. My cheekbones, my TEETH, everything hurts so bad. I just want to sit around and whine about it all day.

I feel so bad because I've been sick for the past month, and I've been taking over the counter medicines off and on for different symptoms. I mean, I've only been taking what's "allowed", but I feel bad for constantly drugging up this poor baby! Thank God I'm in my last trimester so I don't have to worry about him coming out with an extra arm or something!

So sorry, babywavy! Sinus infections suck! I get them a couple of times a year and, yes, they can be painful. I once had one so bad that it hurt to walk because of the pressure in my head. I actually had one right after New Year's and my obgyn gave me an antibiotic, since I had just started my second trimester. You may need something to knock it out besides otc drugs. Otherwise, steam is good. So is vicks vapo rub. Hope you feel better!

Are you eating antibiotics? Those things can be hard to get rid of.

I remember my teeth hurting once.

Go into the bathroom and turn on the shower really hot and sit and breath that stuff for like 10 minutes if you can. Usually is really good. Good to do several times a day.

i suffer from chronic sinus infections. they are really terrible. sometimes you do need an antibiotic to knock it out for good.

moist heat is absolutely the best relief for me when mine are really bad. if you have one of those buckwheat pillows, or anything similar, that you can heat in the microwave, then put a warm wet cloth around it and place over your sinuses/nose for a while. just keep doing that and it helps tremendously.

rest, drink liquids, take as much vitamin c as you can (not sure what the recommendations are for pregnancy and this).

    hope you feel better soon!

Sinus infections can be agonizing. It's not okay to take antibiotics? (Which would clear it up.) If you can't take them, you might want to try a neti pot.

I got put on Amoxicillian, which is supposed to be okay during pregnancy, but I'm going to call my OB tomorrow to make sure. I had to go to the regular doctor b/c my new OB won't handle anything that doesn't involve my vagina  I'm finding this office annoying, but I won't get into that now.

So I'm hoping the antibiotic will get rid of it in a couple of days. I hate taking antibiotics.

I have been taking hot showers, and letting that beat on my sinuses. I also stole my daughters humidifier, and I'm sleeping with that in my room.

Mayim, your suggestion was awesome. I heated one of those pillows and put it on my face - it's the only thing that's made me feel better!! I'm going to do that CONSTANTLY for the next couple of days!!

I feel for all of you who get these chronically. I honestly don't think I've ever had one b/c I would remember pain like this. I will never poo-poo anyones sinus infection again as long as I live!!

since you're on antibiotics and pregnant I would highly suggest adding some probiotics right now to avoid the nasty side effects from the antibiotics.

Also, I know others have raved highly on here about their netipots. Maybe something like that would work for you - it would bring the antiseptic effects of the saline solution where it's needed and without having to circulate through your whole body (thus affecting baby).

I second the moist heat...it works really well.

Ya, I ran out of my acidophillis, and it's on my list to pick it up before I finish this antibiotic.

If you can't get that, plain sour yogurt will do the trick, I eat a brand called Nancy's that has three live cultures in it(including acidophulus). It worked for everything but erythromycin(that **** was STRONG) and as a nice bonus, I've never had a yeast infection :D

I think I've got a sinus infection too, one side of my face is just sore, I can't even blow my nose, it's hard as a rock. Bleh.

I have one right now, too. I ended up taking off work yesterday, and that has helped me more than anything! I felt like a wuss at first, taking off work for "just" a sinus infection, but that combined with being pregnant had just done me in. Just giving my body that day off made me feel so much better!

And I'm on Amoxicillian as well. I'm just praying that it will clear this mess up! All of the regular decongestant things that my OB said I could take (basically Sudafed and Benadryl) have done NOTHING, so I hope this works.

Oh, the other thing that has helped me in the comfort department--popsicles. I have been breathing out of my mouth so much since I'm so stuffy, that popsicles feel wonderful. :)

I got a little battery-operated massager at Sears. It's got three legs so it looks like an alien Tripod, but oh, it's making my sinuses feel gooooooood...

I had the mother-of-all sinus infections some time ago and finally got rid of it when the doctor prescribed Levaquin. I don't know if the safety of Levaquin has been tested on pregnant women, though.

One thing for quick relief that helped me was canned tomato soup with ridiculous amounts of fresh garlic!

Poor thing, I hope you feel better soon.

    Neti pots! Whooo-hooo!

I hate that feeling where one sinus justs gets so crazy that if somebody just...lightly...pricked a pin to that area over one of your eyes...it would just explode and your eyeball would pop out of your head. Then the pain and pressure gets to the point where you're actually praying that the sinus will explode!

I hope you are soon on the mend!

    Sinus infections are miserable.

I 3rd the moist heat. I wet a towel, lay that over my sinuses, and lay a heating pad on top of that.

I've taken a steroid pack before and had a steroid shot before. I don't know if this is okay for pregnant women or not but the steroid really helped out.

    Hope you feel better soon.
