Satin pillowcases or bonnets to protect your hair

Hello all!

I just purchased two more satin pillowcases because I'm having a serious issue with bonnets not staying on my hair at night. I must be a wild sleeper, lol. I've been using a satin pillowcase recently that I purchased from Walmart from the brand evolve for about $8.00. I got another one from amazon.com and it should arrive in the mail soon.

Anyway, my question is what is your preference for protecting your locks at night? Satin bonnet only? Pillowcase only? Both? Or another alternative...?

And for those ladies with satin pillowcases.. How many do you have? I placed an order for two more so I can always have a clean one on hand since my pillowcase gets dirty fast. I had one for the longest time, but I was thinking one doesn't quite suffice anymore.

Silk pillowcase for sure. I can't keep things on my head at night. I'll pull them off.

Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one. I wake up with my bonnets Mia.... Usually on the floor or somewhere hidden in my bed lol

I have a variety of bonnets, and I have a hard time keeping them on throughout the night. I have the most luck with "Style it Up Sleep Cap" and the "Stay on Satin Pocket Bonnet". I learned the hard way that I can't use any bonnets or caps that have velcro or strings to cinch them closed. They inevitably intertwine with my hair, and untangling them is no small feat. Who knew how strong velcro can be when it's tangled up in hair?

One of these days I want to get a satin pillowcase, but I always tell myself a sleep bonnet is so much less expensive. Of course, if I added up the cost of all the sleep bonnets, scarves, du-rags, and nets I've gone through I'd probably have enough money for several satin sheet sets.

I get very different results with the bonnet and the pillowcase. I prefer to pineapple my hair and use the satin pillowcase. I have four and always keep one in my travel bag - just in case I forget while traveling.

I actually use both. I have a scarf type of thing (it isnt really a bonnet but it may be the same kind of material) and it ties so it doesnt come off at night. If I sleep with the satin pillow case alone my hair will be a mess in the morning from the amount of moving I do in my sleep and I will have to get in the shower and start the styling process all over again.

Velcro sounds dangerous, lol!! I know I'd probably end up having the same issue. Bonnets just don't like me ( or I don't like bonnets?)

I'm curious about those bonnets you mentioned though. I'll have to look them up!

What does your 'scarf type of thing' look like?

I look like a loon in the morning, and am looking for a solution to not scare my boyfriend anymore :toothy8:

(seriously, he doesn't care what I look like, but I sure do!)

You know what I'm realizing? I get different results, too actually. When I wake up with a bonnet (or lack thereof), my hair loses a lot of body throughout the night. If I leave it in a ponytail with a satin pillowcase, my hair is full. And what great advice for traveling...
