Protein sensitive..tangles?

So I self diagnosed myself with being protein sensitive because my has was like straw and extremely dry. I have recently eliminated protein from my hair routine and have noticed a change.

Well I know your hair needs some protein and with me highlighting my hair yesterday I did a PT a week ago and followed with DT.

The filling week my hair was EXTREMELY tangly. Normally when I condish my hair and run a comb through in the shower my hair turns to butter. As of lately my hair turns to a rats nest. Ill pile condish on and I struggle to comb it.

I got my hair cut and highlighted yesterday and my stylist even made the comment that my hair was so knotted.

Could this be from the PT or something else??

It could be other ingredients or not enough DT's. I have tried clarifying when my hair gets like this. It usually works.

I have also found that my hair needs protein on occasion but my treatments consist of protein rich conditioner that I work through well but do not leave on for any length of time...seriously, I work it through (fingers, wide-toothed comb, Denman) then rinse. And I still follow with a DT. It's all my hair can handle. So, it's possible if you did a strong PT that it is from that.
remember, with all advice or suggestions for your hair, YMMV!! :read2:
    My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
    My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
    RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
    LI: KCKT or CJSL
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.

Yea. I did CJ repair me so maybe it was too much protein. I left it on for probably 4 mins.

all of a sudden I noticed the same issue...no conditioner helps. I found PS One Conditioner helped but I'm not out of the woods yet. I'll need to check the ingredients on the products I used recently before the rats nest. thanks

Protein mistakes have resulted in a few setbacks for me over the years. Too much protein and my hair because a tangled knotty mess and I have no choice but to get the scissors out.
Yes, it's real. No, you can't touch it. :wav:

I have found too that unless products advertise as being high protein that they usually don't have enough to matter. I have protein sensitive hair and frequently use a Honey Beer and Egg shampoo bar with no ill effects.

I do not find the to be the case at all. "Protein rich" for me is anything with more than one protein.

Update for my post above: I have found CJ Daily Fix to be the perfect protein boost when I need one. It's a cleanser so it is not on my hair for any length of time. It has one protein in it (plus horsetail near the bottom of the list). It seems to give my hair the perfect dose of protein when it needs it - I would say that is about once a week or so.
