Hair is squeaky in the shower??

Usually, my hair is soft and smooth in the shower, but lately, it's been so squeaky, it tangles like crazy, and it never used to tangle. It's like when I run my fingers through there's...friction? At first, I thought this was henna because it was squeaky while I was rinsing it out. I figured maybe I didn't rinse out enough, so I clarified with a hydrating sulfate shampoo (even though I hadn't used sulfates in months) which seemed to help. After, I followed with a ton of conditioner, and it was fine.

However, yesterday, despite using SMR (gentlest shampoo ever! haha) and a lot of conditioner, it still felt squeaky and was tangling terribly! When it dried, it didn't curl well and felt dry and coated...

I've tried clarifying, deep treatments...nothing's working. Has this happened to anyone before?

I'm wondering: are your products protein heavy? Your hair might not need as much protein after a henna treatment as it previously did.

Moisture moisture moisture is the key post-henna!

From what I know of Henna Hair Dye, henna products can't be clarified out. I'm pretty sure they have to wear out. I know if you dye your hair with henna it's a difficult process to dye over it with a standard dye. I don't know if the same rules apply to henna treatments. It could be causing such a seal nothings sinking in and your hair is drying out...just a guess. You might want to try leaving your conditioners on for twice as long.

Umm.. The only time my hair feels squeaky is when it is TOO clean or dry. Especially when I tried to wash it with a bar of soap (never again).

Pure henna doesn't seal the hair, only smooths the cuticle. Henna conditions and strengthens the hair, but doesn't block moisture.
