Dry ends!

Hey everyone, I need some help!

My ends have been getting very dry lately (read: split ends! ) and I'm not quite sure what to do about it. I get overconditioned very easily, so normally I use Suave Naturals condish, but since it's been so cold and dry here I've been using [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Aloeba-Daily-Conditioner-p-104.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-aloeba-daily-conditioner]Jessicurl Aloeba[/buylink] instead. I make sure to add extra condish and honey to my ends in the shower and let it sit for a while, and when I get out of the shower and my hair's all done, it looks great. It's after day 3 or 4 that my hair looks positively parched! I don't understand how my hair can be overconditioned when I first fix it and a few days later looking like crap-ola. I've also tried putting jojoba oil on my ends (when I did a scalp treatment) and it made my ends (and the hair close to my scalp) feel heavy. I've never deep conditioned, seeing as regular [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Aloeba-Daily-Conditioner-p-104.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-aloeba-daily-conditioner]Aloeba[/buylink] in the shower can overcondition me. Any thoughts or ideas? I appreciate it!

How much jojoba oil are you using? I use just a drop and smooth it onto my ends. If I use much moe than a drop, my hair starts to look greasy.

Unfortunately, nothing can put split ends back together. You probably will need to cut them off.

Split ends would need to be cut off---I agree with SuZen.

Dry ends---for me--the greatest products have been: [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Too-Shea-Extra-Moisturizing-Conditioner-p-105.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-too-shea-extra-moisturizing-conditioner]Jessicurl's Too Shea[/buylink] or Deep Treatment. Or OJON Restorative Treatment.

With the OJON a very teeny amt will emulsify in your hands and you can rub them onto the ends of your hair. Just a thought. Curlmart sells it.

Maybe you're not drinking enough water? Doing a lot of DT's doesn't really replace moisture, it helps prevent the moisture from escaping.

Currently: Trying to stop straightening so much. Using Elucence conditioner and whatever works for me.

How would drinking water help? I though hair was dead stuff from starters?

What I did to combat that problem was something that my colorist from Devachan Salon recommended and it worked!

Scrunch some [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCurl-BLeave-In-p-434.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-bleavein]B'Leave-in[/buylink] on your ends, and voila--no more dry-looking ends--and trust me, my ends used to flare out they were so dry--this has worked wonders for me. HTH!

I'm not really sure, but I've always been told that it helps, and it seems to work for me, or maybe I'm just imagining it?

Thanks for all the responses guys. I know I will have to cut off the split ends, but since I'm trying really hard to grow my hair out I'm trying to wait as long as I can. I think the dryness is from the awful weather we've had lately and my hair being so exposed to the wind, esp. the ends when I've got it in a bun.

I think I'll try the jojoba again when it starts getting dry... I had a hard time spreading it evenly on my ends so I probably used too much. I am also considering getting the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Weekly-Deep-Conditioning-Treatment-p-106.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-weekly-deep-conditioner-treatment]Jessicurl WDT[/buylink] because I've heard so many good things about it.

    Thanks everyone!

I read on here a while back to put your hair in a pony tail add a moisturizer, condtioner or oil to the ends and place a plastic baggie over, tie with a hair tie, or uses a satin scarf and leave in over night.

Well, it is good to drink water anyways.
