Thinking about going CG

Hey everyone :)
newbie here.
I've been lurking for quite some time and finally decided to join. I recently purchased Curly Girl: The Handbook by Lorraine Massey and thought about giving the method a try to see how it does for me. I've been relaxer free for about 2 years now and fully transitioned without having to do a bc. I was wondering how some of you went about going the CG route and the products you started off with.
I've actually thought about chopping off my hair Amber Rose style just to see how my hair grows and the curl pattern, but just wearing wigs when I go out.
Any advice will be truly appreciated.

I big chopped one month after my last relaxer. I didn't want to transition because I wanted to combat the dry hair while my hair was closely shaved. As you know hair products vary from person-to-person but what I use (and always return to when I stray) is VO5 Champagne Silk to prepoo, Tresseme Naturals Jojoba and Coconut to cowash (rinse out thoroughly), Suave Naturals Coconut as a leave-in (had to learn exactly how much to add) and Eco Styler gel with Argan Oil as my leave in. I'm quite pleased. I cowash daily (mainly because my hair was smashed to my head in the mornings but is getting better as it gets longer).
