I want a gel that has a strong hold like eco-styler but is all natural. I love using the eco-styler because it brings out my curl pattern a lot but it has wheat protein in it which is bad for my hair. Plz help! I have thick, 4c hair that is low porosity.

Flax seed gel. Google it. I boil 1/4 cup flax seeds in 2 cups water. As a white top forms and the seeds slot on top rather than sink, pour it into a strainer. Then mix FSG with 1 tbsp each glycerin and jojoba oil. But you don't have to. You can also add a few drops of essential oils like tea tree, lemongrass and rosemary (ie 3 drops each of lemongrass, tea tree and rosemary). Google this to see other recipes. Must be refrigerated!

Cj pattern pusha has a strong hold imo. The aloe vera gel did not give enough hold. Funny how all our hair is so different.

Curly Kinks Coil Jam (I think that's what its called), KCCC is at target and is really good....ummm there are a lot more. I would go through the Curlmart store and see which ones would be best for my hair type. I use KCCC on occasion but prefer to make my own now.

My hair doesn't care for the chemicals in many gels--especially the polyquats. I call the gelatinous products without all the chemicals, "jelly" products. Some that haven't been mentioned: Botanical Spirits Curl Puree or Gelee, Camille Rose Curlmaker, AO B-5 or Mandarin Magic, Spiral Solutions CEJ, Donna Marie Curling Gelly, ITDF Organicals Curling Gel and Touchably Soft Conditioning Gel.
3a (Corkicelli), highlighted, fine, low porosity

HGs: Anything Sevi; Curly Kinks Satin Roots, Curlycue ReNew and Coil Jam; homemade FSG and okra gel; soap bars; UFD Curly Magic; Botanical Spirits Jellies, CJ Repair Me, Aloe Fix
