Trying no poo and having some setbacks

Hi everyone! I've been a lurker here for a long time and I've been trying to do the no-poo method for several months now. I got a new cut with lots of layers to hopefully enhance my waves and I can see some improvement in definition when I compare pics from now and right after starting the no-poo (pics in my signature show this, though its hard to see because they're so small).

Unfortunately I keep having setbacks where I need to use shampoo (sulphate-free) at least once a week because my hair is very oily and very fine. I'm a 2C, by the way, with thicker hair in the back and finer, straighter hair around my face. It annoys the heck out of me that it's not the same thickness and waviness all over my head. Seems like the longer I go without shampooing the straighter and flatter it gets. I don't generally have a problem with frizz. My hair was straight most of my life until the past few years when it suddenly got much wavier and I'm doing my best to learn how to deal with this hair!

There are lots of people who are unable to go completely no-poo. I know some who low-poo exclusively. It's all about what works for your hair.

Thank you, Corrina. I realized after I made that post that the signature pic I referenced didn't show up, so sorry about that. I'm hoping I can can keep my shampooing to a minimum, but I'm still trying to figure out what works best for me.

Have you tried a cleansing conditioner? I really love CJ Daily Fix. It leaves my hair feeling moisturized but clean. The peppermint smell is also really nice :)

Yes, I am currently using Wen cleansing conditioner on the days I don't use shampoo. I would never have spent the money on this overpriced stuff, but for some reason my husband got a free Wen kit in the mail. Never figured out who sent it or why!

Thanks for your suggestion of CJ Daily Fix. I love peppermint, so I'll look for that when I run out of the Wen stuff. Where do you buy yours?
