Another not so good cut
I had high hopes. A fellow curly recommended a salon. The recommendation was coming from a man with short hair so maybe I should of been cautious. The stylist is also a curly. I walked in and her hair is a bit blown out looking. I was a little concerned She sat me in the chair and took the time to ask me how I did my hair (hope rising). I explained I was growing out. Like to side sweep my bangs. Want to keep the length. She then takes a brush and gets the knots out of my hair , then washes my hair , and does a wet cut. Now I can live with a wet cut only for the fact that I"m more wavy than curly so I think my hair has a bit more leeway. I wasn't too thrilled with 1 inch being removed however my ends were dry and I'd let the stylist judge the amount of damage to remove. I did let her know up front that I didn't want it thinned. I had a lot of promise that she'd give me an individual curly cut but when she started sectioning off and very carefully lining up all the edges I knew I was doomed. I didn't see it but felt her razor the scissors over my bangs The blowout wasn't a gentle diffuse but constant aggressive hair manipulation. Not scrunching but more fluffing and racking My hair ended up looking like hers (a little wild, crazy, and a bit of frizz fluffing through). She didn't use much product so at least I came home and was able to add my own product. I'm not devastated by this haircut and actually I'm optimistic. This because I was "this close" to cancelling my appt today (I'm in the wake of Hurricane Sandy) and had already started searching for another stylist and found someone through the NC Salong Finder and it's only 45 min away from my work and has late hrs to accommodate me. So my next haircut will be there and I can't wait! I've already read from numerous reviews they do dry cuts and really take the time to go over the curl girl philosophy! The moral of the story...."if at first you don't succeed try try again!"
