So I've been a curly girl for 8 months. In the beginning, like most curly girls, was extremely difficult. During the summer; however, my hair was FINALLY cooperating. All the curls were uniformed together. I was using the deva curl line- gel and conditioner. Now I've been noticing my hair is going back to the worst. I have one curl strand which is longer than the rest. The top of my hair is wavy and the bottom is beautiful curls. I am at that point where I just want to shave it all off. This is my last resort, I've talked stylists and so many other peopled they don't help!
Products I use:
Deva curl light hold gel
Curly Q leave in conditioner
Shea moisture volume conditioner
Shea moisture shine shampoo
Deva curl lavender spray
Shea moisture flax seed oil gel
Deva curl serum
* all these products are not used all at once. They are interchangeable.
Also I just want tips I dnot want new products to buy bc I've spent over $300 and I can't keep buying new ones. I honestly feel like it's my routine. What do you guys do?

Hm, if your curls are dropping, you might benefit from a protein treatment as your hair might be overconditioned. Does your hair feel overly soft and mushy when wet?

Search for the IAGirl's gelatin PT – it's inexpensive and effective. All you need is unflavored gelatin!

When weT, it is pretty soft and definitely mushy. Is that bad?

Yes, that indicates it is overconditioned. I generally do a strengthening treatment to correct that. That means protein, but in my case I can only use aloe - it behaves like a protein in my hair and it's the only type of strength treatment it tolerates well.
remember, with all advice or suggestions for your hair, YMMV!! :read2:
    My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
    My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
    RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
    LI: KCKT or CJSL
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.

I have a deep treatment mask by Shea moisture. Would that suffice? I had no idea hair could be overconditioned. Thanks so much guys this is helping me a lot!

Which SM masque? You'll want something with hydrolyzed proteins ideally.

It's a deep treatment mosque with argan oil, sea kelp, and Shea butter.

Mm, I think you'll need something much more protein heavy than that. That mask looks more like a moisturizing DT. Have you looked into the Gelatin PT?

I had a similar issue and i clarified my hair and did a protein treatment. I have a couple one is aphogee 2-step, and the other nexxus emergence. I used the nexxus and saw a dramatic change is curl definition... Still not completely satisfied i tried henna for the 1st time and they REALLY popped.

I'll look into a Gallatin pt as well and I'll try the nexxus one too! The henna sounds interesting. I'll look into all these!

Girllll you betta grab a pack of aphogee two step. Or whatever protein treatment you use I advise still using a moisturizing deep treatment afterwards.

Lol I will! I ended up using the SM deep treatment mask and left in in for 45 minutes and my hair came out soft and more consistent. I'm just having problems styling it so I end uo wearing it uo which I'm trying not to do. Where can I get this aphogee PT?
