CurlTalk

how many/what type products do you use at a time?

I am on information overload. I've gotten things down to where my hair looks gorgeous but the curls fall out after a bit.

I'm guessing I need more product. I know what works for you mightn't work for me - but on an average day, just how many products do you use, and what do you like?

I'm a 2b/3c with thirsty locks. Everything from very deep waves, to corkscrews, to straight hair around the nape of my neck that is showing a little life now.

Being on information overload is very common when you're new here. Even when you've been here awhile it can get overwhelming !

What products are you using now and what is your routine? Most of us end up having to use a combo of two products (besides a leave-in), sometimes three if you throw in [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curly-Hair-Solutions-Curl-Keeper-p-28.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=curly-hair-solutions-curl-keeper]Curl Keeper[/buylink] (a frizz controller). Or it depends on the products. Sometimes you can get away with just one product on top of a leave-in.

Amounts of product varies, too. With some products it takes alot, others it doesn't. We might can help you more if we know what you're using and how much.

I usually just apply product on days that I wash my hair, because I find that if I get a good start on first day hair then I don't usually need anything on second day hair, etc. Most of the time I use some leave-in condish and then a cream styler and a gel on top. Sometimes just a cream styler, but not usually gel alone.

ok - I've reduced the number of times I shampoo & just use condish to clean. I'm amazed that my hair & scalp still feel clean (I can get itchy scalp easily) and my curls feel softer.

Using that Vive 'poo & condish for curly hair I saw recommended here. Wow, my hair drinks up the condish. I like it.

Bought Goldwell Curl Intense deep condish & used once while in the tub reading a book and it seemed nice but I'm not sure it was worth the $$$, same for their curling spray.

was using the Studio Spiraling Curls (or whatev it's called) mousse and spray. Seemed to do ok. Bought their Messy hair stuff (again, forget the name) because of the 10 page thread where y'all call it "LOOB" or "BOOB" or somesuch and just used it today, but it seems really heavy & gooey. Maybe used too much. Left a film on my hair.

Applying product to soping wet hair, head upside down, gently scrunching out excess water. The "plopping" routine definitely helps! Much less frizz. Only combing hair when wet, after product.

    No leave-in yet.

You might want to give the HE gels a try. The Totally Twisted has the softest hold. Then, for me, comes the Body Envy then the Set Me Up. They're all cheap so you won't be wasting a ton of money.
