I really don't care for the "trending topics" displayed at the bottom of the page. They're tacky, gross and make me feel stupider for just seeing them. I also don't think posts that mock other womens' clothes and bodies, unflattering shots of women, etc. are in the spirit of what I THOUGHT this site was about - helping women accept their natural features and to feel good about themselves. Where are these topics "trending" and why are they being shown to us?

I was coming to start a thread about the trending topics because of the sleazy snapshots of women's bodies.

I do my best not to see the trending topics because of that and because I am not interested in celebrity gossip.

Trending topics need to be removed. What is the point???

I will share your concerns with NaturallyCurly's management team, and try to get an answer about the thought behind offering the info. I'm guessing they thought they were providing you with links to interesting stories you might like.

This site has shown thousands of us how to take care of our hair. It has taught us to embrace our curls.

And yet, a trending topic tells us to inject botox into our breasts to make them bigger because "Mother Nature deprived me of a big bust." angry9: :pukel:

ETA: I clicked send only to see trending topics pop up with 1 picture of someone with hair slightly curled at the ends, and TWO topics with women who have long, stick straight hair. Way to stick with the message.

Le sigh. WHY is NC.com management doing this? Do they read our posts regarding the "gurus" and "trending topics"? NO ONE CARES that Amber Rose is pregnant, or what 50 Cent has to say about the downfall of G-unit.

it would be helpful for all of us if you would retire the "Trending Topics" - at least "CurlyGurus" refers to content on this site and appears to be more relevant to your membership.

since "Trending Topics" began, i have had close-up photos of women's large breasts and large butts pushed on me; some photos accompanying these "topics" verge on pornographic. as i pointed out in an email to you, and as you know very well, a substantial portion of your membership is comprised of teenage girls. this is hardly appropriate.

yesterday, i went to the 4a board to obtain the information about the young member who died so i could send a donation to her family.

if i thought the topics presented on the non-hair board were bad, i was wrong - you see, when the cookies think you might be of another ethnicity, the topics change. this is an example of what i got this morning:

i was very proud of my association with this site and very pleased to write for you for 6 years, but, as i said in my email, and posted yesterday, i am now very ashamed to have my name and my image associated with a site that appears to be pushing prurient "topics" for financial gain.

Add me to the list of people who say "thumbs down" to Trending Topics. First of all, most of the "trending topics" have nothing to do with hair and this is a site that is mainly about hair. Also, a lot of them are flatly ridiculous or flat out offensive. A site whose mission is to encourage women to embrace what Mother Nature gave us borders on hypocrisy when topics like "How to Shingle Natural Hair," are listed next to ones like "Mother Nature Deprived Me of a Big Bust," along with a picture of a half naked well endowed woman and which contents are about how you can inject Botox into your breasts. So we should be encouraged to embrace our hair but we should be ashamed about the size of our breasts at the same time? Shame on you, NC.com. Also, I don't think celebrity gossip belongs anywhere on a hair site. I do not care if Beyonce used a surrogate or whether Faith Hill looks ugly without makeup. Please remove the feature as it's a waste of bandwidth and does not support what the site is supposed to be about.

This site will not make any money if it drives all its posters away with stupidity like the gurus and trending topics.

Since the place was sold to texture media it's really gone downhill.

I had not been to visit Naturally Curly in quite some time, due to personal circumstances, until very recently. I was surprised to see the "Trending Topics" banner and perplexed at how these fluff/trash stories could be "trending anywhere. I nearly left the site and planned to delete my apps from NC; however, reading posts from other outraged, confused, and upset members made me pause. Since it appears the new company in charge does not plan to discontinue this offensive and pointless "feature", I would like to suggest the use of better filters/aggregators, keywords, or site selections. Indeed, if it is planned to disregard member requests for the removal of this "feature", then ideally, the "Trending Topics" would be full of useful, relevant news, not "Botox" stories, celebrity gossip, or links to articles full of poor grammar and terrible spelling. This is a site for addressing the unique needs of curly hair, not the cafe board at makeup alley or TMZ.

ALSO, NC.com, quit trying to be something you are not. We come here for hair topics, and other non-hair topics that are of interest to us. The information shared in threads is plenty enough, we don't need help finding "trending topics" or with the "gurus" :rolleyes:. We have that IN THE THREADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If we wanted to read gossip or other articles that have no relation to anything on this board, we get those from somewhere else. The purpose of NC.com is not what you are trying to head towards, and if you do, you will suddenly find yourselves out of patrons. REAL TALK (keeping it all the way 100%)

I just read in the Say It Thread that it is collapsible. I am on the app all the time so I don't see it, thank goodness. The Guru thing is collapsible too!
