How many pairs of different types of pants do you have?

CurlswirlCurlswirl Posts: 526Registered Users
I have 5 pairs of straight leg jeans with different washes (some slim cut and some regular, NO skinny), 4 pairs of bootcut jeans with different washes and some straight and bootcut cords. I have some dressier pants but for my job they are not required so I stick to jeans mainly.

What do you think is a good amount of pants to have (there is only so much room in a closet but then there are ottoman's that you can store things in:) and what colors are necessary to you?

Also, do you have certain tops that look best with specific pants?

Just last week I cleaned out my closet. There's not point in keeping pants I never wear--if I change sizes, I'll go out and buy new pants. I have:

4 pair of skinny jeans, although one pair is big enough that they're really not very "skinny" at all as they're loose on me, but I still wear them to run errands and hang around the house. Those are medium blue, the others are very dark blue, a faded black, and a light blue that have (purposeful) holes.

1 pair of wide-leg trouser jeans.

1 pair of straight leg cobalt blue jeans (I'm wearing right now!). Technically jeans, but don't look like it, so I wear them to work.

3 pair of straight-leg (not quite skinny) black pants.

1 pair of dressy black trouser pants with a wide straight leg.

1 pair of straight leg pants in a black and white kind of abstract/mod plaid print.

I also have 2 pairs of pants-leggings (able to wear to the gym or around the house and not be indecent as regular leggings would be), about 4 pairs of yoga pants, 3 pairs of sweat pants, 1 pair of pajama pants, and ~6 pairs of workout pants in either full or capri-length.

I don't think I own any regular capri pants, and I own exactly 1 pair of shorts (denim). My legs are not made for shorts! I mostly wear skirts/dresses in the summer.

I don't see a need to have tons of different trouser and jeans, for me. What you have is plenty. You're just one person wearing one pair of trousers/jeans at a time! :)

If we're counting jeans, leggings, yogas, sweats, cords and dress pants, casual pants, then at least 50. Are we counting the bottoms to pantsuits, too? Then prbly 60. Just a guess...I have no idea.

As far as individual (non suit) dress pants go...about 10.

Hmmm, I feel woefully inadequate in this crowd. I have two pairs of the exact same boot cut pants for work (black jeans) and two pairs of the exact same boot cut blue jeans for casual Friday and weekends. I've a 34" inseam and between regular store sizes and women's store sizes. I find pants shopping to be worse than bra shopping and the dentist combined!

eta: and three pair of black yoga pants that have never been out of the house.

I have 4 pairs only...two long pants, two denim capris. My jeans are mostly boot cut (my preferred style) and medium or dark blue. I'm not a fan of jeans with holes, sanding, whiskering, or light washes. My jeans all have cute pockets on the butt because that's my best asset! I'm not sure what my inseam is, because I'm very short.

I don't own slacks anymore but I met the hubby in this pair of chocolate brown pants that looked very smart and tailored. Don't have them anymore...but I will probably need some nice professional clothes when I start working again, hopefully in January.

I'm with eche428...shopping for pants is a nightmare. I'm one of the few women who doesn't have a problem with bra shopping, but pants? Fugheddabout it! I hated it when I was thin and I still hate it now. That's why I tend to wear my jeans until they fall apart. I simply detest shopping for pants. It's tough with thighs and a booty like mine. Stuff never seems to fit the way it should.

About 30 work pants. I currently have about 20 in my current rotation - about 6 or 7 black , 3 grey , 3 brown, 2 dark plum, 1 fushia, 2 stripy black, 1 yellowy mustard , 2 navy blue.

I am looking for a jean to wear on Fridays. I bought 1 designer jean a couple of years ago that I always wear on casual Fridays. I don't want to spend the money for a new one but I find that I can't go back to non designer jeans. They give me a flat butt.

2 joga pants, 1 ponte black, 1 casual grey, 3 corduroy beige and 1 corduroy purple.

You may have heard this before, so forgive me if you've tried this. Have you tried tailoring? If I get pants to handle my butt and thighs, they'll be big elsewhere. I get my nicer pants tailored to help out.

    Woah.

I have one pair of bootcut jeans, and two pairs of skinnies.
And now, two pairs of khaki pants for work. Also, one pair of black pants.

I also have one pair of skinny jeans (from gap) that turned out to be TOTAL mom jeans, so I don't wear them outside of the house.

I used to have two more pairs of jeans, but I managed to rip holes in them (in the CROTCH, of all places) on both pairs within weeks of each other. How does that even happen? They were my favorites. :(

I have one pair of yoga pants, but I don't wear them outside of the house. I have absurd amounts of pajama pants... And I'm not ashamed of it! Haha

    I have

capris (for spring/summer) and Docker/Lee style cotton pants (for fall/winter)in brown, black, navy, green, khaki, white, and taupe

    cords in brown and navy

    blue jeans and black jeans

dressy wool pants in black, grey, and camel

    Dang, that's a lot isn't it?
PS: I almost always have to get pants altered. Sometimes, it's just hemming but for my dressier pants, I have to get the waist taken in to accommodate my big butt.

For those who get their pants altered, what is the cost?
  • redcelticcurlsredcelticcurls Posts: 17,502Registered Users
I usually pay 15ish for getting the waist fixed.

    Pantsuits: 1dark green, 1 black, 2 grey
    Slacks: 3 grey, 3 black, 1 black pinstripe, 1 navy, 1 brown
    Docker/cords: 2 tan, 1 brown
Jeans: 2 grey, 2 black, 2 dark blue, 1 dark purple, 1 pink
Exercise/sweat pants: 12 pairs, mostly black, navy or grey

I can only wear jeans to work on Fridays. I get bored easily. Writing it out makes it seem somewhat excessive.

I have a bunch of jeans a few that I can't fit anymore currently lol but I still have a few I can fit usually medium wash to dark I'm not a light wash jean lover. I have some purple jeans and a pair of red jeans both are sweatheart skinnies from old navy which I loveeee. Then I have colored twill skinny pants in navy blue, red, baby pink, and a dark turquoise greenish color. I have some grey skinny jeans also from old navy, I have some dress pants I got from rue21 that have these cute buttons in the front on the side. I have some stretch skinny jeans I got for $7 at this store tha basically sells name brand products that are off the market kinda like tj maxx and ross does. I also have my favorite yoga pants from old navy and some I got from rue21. and few other types of pants.
