Starting out..need help (2b)

Just discovered this place and hoping someone can help me thru all the info. So excited to maybe have pretty non frizzy hair at some point.

I have thick, fizzy, course hair that takes hours to dry. I also have a problem with dandruff.

I am thinking I am a 2b..but my wave looks more like 2a. I think I have abused my hair so long that I am not sure what it really is.

Any help from someone with my hair type on what to do next would be great!!
Holly
Brand new..2b hair. Hoping I will get curls. Thick, frizzy, course...any suggestions welcome.

It's most important to know your hair properties. Curl pattern is least important.

Is it dandruff or dry scalp? If it's a dry scalp, I suggest try brown sugar scrubs. Mix equal amounts (or a tiny bit more brown sugar) of olive oil and brown sugar. I use about a tablespoon of each. I also like to add a few drops of rosemary oil. Some people like to add a few drops of tea tree oil.

Mix together and massage it into your scalp. I do this in the bathtub so I don't get the floor all gross. I let it sit about 10 mins in my hair and then low poo it out in a shower like normal. Some people like to cowash it out instead.
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Beauticurls, CJ Smoothing

    jellies/creams: CR Curl Maker, KCCC
gels: CJ CQ, CJ Pattern Pusha, BRHG

It takes a lot of experimenting with different methods & products to find what works best for your individual hair. When I first started cg, it took a while to do this. Then I found "Jessicurl's" website & how she styles her hair. Using her demo, products & a HUGE key for me, a layered haircut I had the hair of my dreams!!!

Maybe her technique will work for you? I found it gave me great definition, clumping & no frizz :) PLUS, like you my hair takes forever to dry & she uses a diffuser (which also helps encourage my curls)!

P.S. I realize my signature does not include Jessicurl products b/c after messing with my hair with cutting/straightening I find it no longer has enough hold for me. I use kinky kurly come clean, knot today & curling custard now & love it!

To control frizz the biggest difference for me is to oil it (few drops of olive oil, coconut oil, etc) when damp. To encourage more waves or curls I scrunch or diffuse it. :) I don't always use gel, but some sort of leave-in conditioner for curly hair.

Im new to this whole CG method also, been a few months. I have just figured out for my that any kind of oil is too much for my waves. It pulled the wave out and orated my hair, where I could see the water beading up on the shaft!!! So be careful with the oils. I wish someone would have told me this, to avoid what I am going through now...ugh
    2b/c CG since 8/12
