Newbie combatting underside frizz

SreusawSreusaw Posts: 18Registered Users
Hi! I'm new to this site as well but have already spent more than my fair share of hours reading up on curly hair. I've just started CG (as in, it's been 3 days) but I've been doing a modified CG for several months now without knowing it. I'm pretty sure I'm 3b but haven't been able to figure out much more yet.

My biggest problem is frizziness underneath the rest of my hair. I teach so I'm leaving the house early and most of the time, my hair is still quite wet. The curls on top look pretty great but it feels like all the product has been rubbed off any curls that lay on my neck. That just gives me a frizzy pillow that sticks out over my shoulders! Not attractive! Any help with that would be MUCH appreciated!

My hair can be quite the same. My name is Ebony and I'm new here too. What hair type are you?

Hi Ebony! I'm a 3b most of the time but when it gets frizzy, it starts to look more like a frizzy 2.

I saw a thread somewhere that talked about the hair around the nape of your neck being dry because we forget about it sometimes. I've been trying to use more moisturizer there to try to fix it. And of course paying more attention to where I apply gel. We'll see how that goes.

Are you applying your products in sections? I have very thick hair and before i started sectioning, parts of my hair, especially underneath, would be frizzy.

Actually, people looking at my hair tell me that it's really thick but when I feel it myself, it doesn't feel that way. I've just been putting on product upside down and smoothing it down my hair with a hand in the front and in the back. Somehow that works for everything but underneath. Maybe I'll try counting the back as a separate section though... that's a good idea!

I've been having trouble with the front part of my hair, the part that ends up in front of my shoulders, and the top third of my hair is getting really limp. I tried a PT today in hopes that the extra protein will give it a boost but I'm new to all of that so it's really just an experiment for now.

Yeah ive tried applying upside down and that didnt work either. Only thing that worked was separating the bottom and raking product through.

I guess this would be considered a guano but.... I realized soon after signing up that in my excitement to join this community, I made a typo in my username. I've seen that I have to have you change that. Would it be possible to change my username to "SreySaw"? It's been driving me crazy! Thanks!!!

And thanks for creating this community! What an encouragement for those of us who thought we just had frizz on our heads!
