help! didnt leave relaxer on for long enough!

it all started with a HORRIBLE hair cut - where the dresser took of chunks of my extra thick hait to make it 'thinner' the results were BAD layers, unhelathy ends, thick roots, and thin hair - not cute

I went to the dresser who evened it out for the most part and recommended her do a relaxer on the roots for me -for $250 - well I took a look at the product then bought it myself and did it on myself. :batman:

The results are good - my hair is def relaxed and not super straight - BUT i washed it off way too soon and its not half as relaxed as I wanted. Now my question is can i re-apply the relaxer for another 5 - 10 minutes (i should have left it on for a half hour but only did 10 minutes!)
now i know you should never re-apply, but if I only left is on for a 3rd of teh time - isn't it like i'm just leaving it on longer?

any suggestions!?!!?! thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!!

by the way - I don't need my hair super straight - just want the roots flatter so i don't have to iron it and it can grow out healthily

If you reapply the relaxer you run a huge risk of causing even more damage (breakage, dryness) the best thing to do is to wait the suggested amount of time (8-10weeks) before reapplying.

Definately not! Your hair will most likely get all gummy and pretty much melt off if you do it that soon (looked at vids where this actually happened to a few people... it was quite scary!)

Well, my hair is strong and used to need double relaxing when I did relax it and it never became super straight. So depending on your hairs porosity you may be able to. I usually waited about 4 days then redid it for another 15/20 minutes.

    Thanks!

Well it's been over 2 weeks and my hair is completely back to it was - and yeah it's super thick so I'm going to give it another go! Wish me luck!!!

Also about the bad haircut, I must say, shockingly I've gotten really good feedback and it turned out to be way more flattering!

Now another question - if I do a strand test (to make sure it doesn't fall out!) do you think I can re-use the stuff even if i opened the tube?

    so complicated!

Also any advice regarding course roots?
