Mixing products -- KCCC + ??

A while ago I bought KCCC but from the start never liked it (Made my hair too stringy and was too hard to SOTC).

I've looked for ways to use it up, however, and thought to mix it with other products. Oddly enough, I've gotten pretty good results from mixing KCCC and EVOO in my hand right before applying it -- No stringy-ness and not a lot of SOTC needed.

Wondering if anyone else happens to use KCCC by mixing it with something. What did you add to it? It may sound strange, but a combination of products that gives great results would keep me buying something that I otherwise wouldn't buy for use on its own.

Like you, I can't really use KCCC by itself. If I don't use conditioner with it, it just feels hard. If I don't follow it up w/coconut oil, it's all flyaway.

    BUT.

That said, KCCC makes my curls look great - full of body. And get to walk around smelling like a lemon-vanilla cupcake :)

For someone who's so sure she doesn't like KCCC, I'm having the *best* time playing around with it to see if I can make it work.

Ok, so KCCC + EVOO is a keeper. Now I've tried KCCC + CJ CIAB (which much to my great disappointment, I haven't liked much either :-(), and again, the results are actually pretty good!!

I'm thinking it might be the viscosity of KCCC that just isn't working for my hair. ??? IDK. But so far when I've mixed it with EVOO or CJ CIAB, it has distributed much, much better throughout my hair than KCCC does on its own. Next time, I might even just spritz a little water into my palm and mix it together with the KCCC before applying.

If that works, I may have figured out how to keep KCCC in my rotation of stylers (good because it's CG), and to stretch the product a little (good because it saves me some money!)

I've been using KCCC on my wet hair over the canopy, then scrunch some more in - then adding a bit of water (not even close to super soaker, but same principle) - then using my t shirt to scrunch, waiting a tiny bit then adding Foxy Curls mousse. This has stopped the stringy-ness I'd sometimes get with KCCC and a gel and also has stopped a lot of frizz.

(i can't use KCCC alone, it makes me look like i just came in from a rainstorm, all droopy, stringy, wet)
    Modified CG since Dec 2011

I glad to know I'm not the only one who had a stringy-ness problem with it. I watched the Kinky-Curly video on how to use it and was using it as instructed, so I figured it must be something about the product itself and how it worked with my hair.

I'm glad not to have to throw it out and waste money. Now that I've come up with ways to use it successfully, I might even get it again for convenience sake when I get lazy about making FSG.

Hmmm.... KCCC + just water... not liking so much. Mixing it with water alone didn't cut down on the stringy-ness enough.

I guess my hair just isn't a fan of KCCC, but it's willing to play nicely if I mix KCCC with other stuff (i.e. EVOO or CIAB, but not plain water alone).

Wanted to add that last "update" in case the feedback saves someone else the trouble of experimenting.

Knot today makes my hair feel like straw alone, but with KCCC, it works great together for nice curls. I just have to find the right ratio.

I mix it in my palm with KCKT or a very light conditioner. The ratio of KCCC + whatever I mix it with is about 3 to 1, the 3 being KCCC. I like KCCC but can't use it alone either.
 fine, thin, normal/(low?) porosity. Mod-CG. Usually I can't co-wash more than 1x a week, & sometimes I have to use T-Gel in rotation due to scalp issues.

    Co-wash: VO5 Volumizing
    Poo: Giovanni 50:50
RO:TN, Nexxus Youth Renewal, Alba Coconut
    LI: KCKT
    PT: gelatin PT, ION EC
Stylers: Giovanni mousse, TIGI Curls Rock amplifier (a-cone), Curls Rock Strong Hold Mousse
    Gels: SCC spray gel

I remember I used to mix KCCC+SS CEJ and got decent results. Now I can use KCCC w/o mixing in another product.
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Beauticurls, CJ Smoothing

Now why didn't I think of that already?! I actually do like KCKT a lot (it was the first leave-in I found that I liked because it didn't leave my hair feeling product-y), and it was because of that, that I figured I'd give KCCC a try in the first place. It makes sense that a mix of products from the same product line might work.

Will that combo a try next time I co-wash.

That was how I felt about KCKT too & had the same train of thought when I first mixed them! Hope it works for you!

Thanks for the suggestion. The knot today was making my hair feel dry with KCCC, I was using too much knot today. It works very good now for me, the way you suggested. It's strange my hair is very soft with the knot today alone...

I used to mix KCCC with Aubrey Organics Mandarin Magic Jelly and the duo worked really well. It distributed much better than KCCC did alone, at the time.
