No school until Tuesday. Ways to fight boredom?

Thanks to hurricane Isaac I won't be able to go to school until Tuesday. I went to school for an hour Monday but other than that I've just been at home bored.

When my school-aged kids are looking to relieve boredom, I give them housecleaning chores to do. Suddenly, they're not bored anymore.

    Read books.
    Write letters.
    Organize / clean house.
Do hair / nails / organize closet, etc.
    Watch movies.
Listen to a different kind of music than you normally like.
    Go for a walk/run/bike ride.
    Do an exercise video.
    Cook / bake.
Make something (some kind of craft.)
    Journal.
    Garden.
    Get together with friends.
Get used to me. Black, confident, cocky; my name, not yours; my religion, not yours; my goals, my own; get used to me. -Muhammad Ali

Yep. We kids learned early on not to say the B word!

I can't imagine ever being bored so long as I have books to read.

I couldn't drive more than 10 minutes in any direction yesterday. Casino row in Biloxi was flooded and hwy 90 toward Gulfport was flooded. There was a small tornado in Gulfport but I can't remember where. Last time check my aunt in Slidell it wasn't flooded but she was without power but that was yesterday afternoon. I haven't been able to talk to anyone I know In NOLA yet Everyone phones are dead. I have a friend I talked to tuesday night so I'm assuming she hasn't had power since then. I know there's been a good bit of flooding but I can't give you exact locations.

Haha, this was my mom's method as well. Same cure if you were cold? "You're cold? Really? I bet if you vacuumed the living room it would warm you right up!".

But honestly, I was bored a lot as an adolescent/teen. I wish someone had given me more "projects" to do. Stuff like looking up a particular thing or event, or learning about a new topic, etc. I loved to draw and I loved to shop...if someone had said "hey, here's a book on fashion designers" I would have entertained myself quite well, I think! (Just an example). So I guess my suggestion is to pick something you're interested in, and learn more about it!
