Talk me down, please (is anyone in HR?)

So for some odd reason every single one of us this year had to re-up our health insurance. Usually it just rolls over. And there have been warnings out for weeks: RE-ENROLL BY FRIDAY, AUGUST 17 AT 5. IF YOU MISS THE DEADLINE YOU WILL NOT BE COVERED! NO EXCEPTIONS!

So I filled out my application and brought it (along with a coworker's) to HR on Friday, August 8. I don't remember who I handed it to-- although I do remember the desk. They told me I'd get a confirmation email but didn't tell me when to expect it.

Today I found out that everyone (except my coworker and me) have gotten the confirmation email.

Of course, I work 4 to midnight so I found out about it at 6:00 p.m. and everyone from HR's gone home and won't be back until Monday. And I am flipping out. I keep saying to myself, "Baloney. If I'd dropped that form off on Friday at 4:58 I would have made the deadline but there's nothing they could have done with my form at that point." And I keep thinking, "You DID drop it off. They didn't email you but any mistake after you dropped it off is on them."

But I'm still freaking out and will probably have to freak out until Monday morning. Talk me down, please.

You're fine. They need a strong end date or things will continue to trickle in. It worked, they all went in.

Go in as soon as someone is in Monday morning and speak to them and straighten it out.

If the company is that big though that you can't remember who you handed it to, is there not someone reachable over the weekend?

No one's reachable over the weekend. But I remember the desk the woman sat at. I remember the jokes I made to her-- because I dropped off my friend's form and forgot mine and had to go back to my office to get it. And I spelled my own town name wrong and she scratched it out for me and told me not to worry because they'd be going through it anyway and it was only Massachusetts towns.

So I think I've got a pretty strong leg to stand on.

ETA: I'm wicked bad with faces. And my company is pretty big, yeah. Like over 500.
