Interview Hair?

hippiedollhippiedoll Posts: 398Registered Users
Hi ladies,

I'm job hunting again. I'm a couple days shy of 6 months post relaxer. I have almost half relaxed, half natural. I'm wondering if it's appropriate to wear my hair freshly washed in a braid out. I'm having an issue with frizz wearing it in a bun. My mom says wearing my hair as is wouldn't look right for an interview. Honestly I do not care. I think curls are just as professional and acceptable to wear. Please weigh in

I don't know HippieDoll but a bun always seems conservative to me, so it sounds as though it would be good for job interviews. Good luck on those.

Hope others give you good feedback - maybe post a pic. :hello2:

I love all the Curl Junkie products. Still experimenting with gels and curl creams. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....

I would just suggest not looking like a hot mess. Whatever you have to do to look put together, go for it.

I agree. I would especifically avoid wet hair, even if it's braided or in a bun.

I mean I would make sure my hair is freshly washed so that it will style better and not greasy. I'm thinking of just going for a bun slicked down with very little product and some gel

The only thing related to appearance that I pay attention to when I interview candidates is whether they're neat, ie.well put together, and not sloppy. I wouldn't even pay attention if someone came in with a bun, straight hair, curly hair, natural hair, relaxed hair, kinky hair, short hair, long....well you get the picture. I think it's more a candidate's worry than an interviewer's concern.

Thank you! I think so too. Everything is about presentation. In this time in my life, I think people are too sensitive to certain things. Natural hair shouldn't be one of them. I'm not saying I'm going to the interview with wet, wild, or jerri-curl-looking hair. If I do decide to have my hair curly it would be on clean hair and ill make sure my curls are intact with minimal frizz.
