Hi I have super fine, thin cherub curls. Lately, my hair has been stringy. I have tried rinsing out all conditioner, leaving some in. Using less mousse/gel, Vinegar rinse to clarify. I use Deva Curl products.

I can't seem to get any volume and where my hair once would "ringlet" it just hangs now. Hair length is almost to the shoulders.

Anybody else with this problem? Been natural for a year now and really don't want to go back to blow frying.

Since you have fine hair and describe your curls as being limp you might want to try a protein treatment. Perhaps incorporate some protein in your stylers.

I also have very fine hair. When it gets stringy, I usually need a protein treatment. I really like IAGirl's recipe on these boards.

Ditto. For me, it either means I need a protein treatment or I used too much gel.

My hair loves protein, especially keratin! It hates coconut oil and all butters.

I agree with the PT recommendation, too.

Around here, Deva is a love/hate line. Most of us start out with it, think we like it and then move on to other products that we like more. My salon has Deva products, but I bring my own. I find the NoPoo very drying since they reformulated a few years ago.

Many of us rotate products. My hair has always satiated on products, even back in my shampoo/conditioner only days. I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. Seldom use the same product more then once every five days.

My suggestion is that you try some other products. Look for folks with hair like yours (properties) and see what they use (in signatures.) It's the best way to choose ingredients/products. It's all trial and error and finding what works for you--but it's a good place to start.
