How do I detangle my hair without breaking it?

QueenNefertitiQueenNefertiti Posts: 9Registered Users
I am planning to have my hair natural (for the third time) and I want to get it right this time. Since my scalp and hair is as dry as a bone I will only be co-washing.

These are the products I have:
Tresemme Naturals Conditioner
Coconut oil
Almond oil

Lol what else do I need? If I need anything.

Also should I just use my fingers? My hair is almost BSL

You might want a thicker deep conditioner to use in your hair once a week or so. I use tresemme naturals for co-washing, but I don't think it's very good for detangling.

You need a good conditioner with great slip. A cheap alternative that works for me is the Vo5 tea therapy. Detangle while in the shower with a good amount of conditioner. I finger detangle but you can use a wide tooth comb its up to you what works best.

Have you tried a HOT oil pre-poo

If I know its going to be a tough detangle session I

Warm some EVOO or EVCO up ,and apply to my hair section by section, while doing a light finger detangle and a nice sclap massage( helps with dry itchy sclap)

I do 4 loose braid and put on a plastic cap for 30min., if you do it overnight even better.

Then I hop in the shower and wash my hair in sections

I let the warm water run thur my hair knocking out some of the detangles, it makes things much easier.

I second the VO5. I use the strawberries & milk & it has excellent slip. However I do use Tresumme Naturals but I water it down just a little because its so thick.

Oil rinses! It makes my hair so soft and feels like all the tangles just fall out (not the bad way).
