My Hair Won't Dry

Like the title says my hair takes forever to dry 6-7 hours if I try to air dry 30-45 minutes if I try to defuse and I squeeze out excess water before I get out the shower then put my hair up in a tshirt for 10 minutes. I apply my products to damp hair and blot with a towel even more but it still takes hours for it to completely dry and I don't know why. Please somebody help

Welcome to the Low Porosity club. My hair takes that long to dry also. Today I natural soap washed it at 11:30. It is 3... and my hair is not dry yet. In the winter use a hooded dryer on a pole $99 from Sally's it was the best investment I ever made. I will sit under it for 20 -25 minutes.... and still it's not dry, but I don't leave with soaking wet hair!

My hair is slow drying and, yes, low porosity. It takes about 6-7 hours with gel in it, if I squeeze out water with a t-shirt and then air dry; it doesn't get dry with the diffuser, though diffusing it for 15 minutes or so does speed up the drying cycle.

When it was superlong it took about two days to dry completely, actually. So for me 6-7 hours is a definite improvement.

But try leaving in a little less conditioner and styling product, and diffusing not to get it dry but just to set it a little, and see if that helps.

My hair likes a lil' protein even though it's very low porosity, I don't think that's a universal rule, though, it's common for low-po hair to violently reject protein.

+1 my hair takes a long time to dry and my hooded dryer helps get the process going then I go to bed and let it finish overnight.
Also I can do mild protein well.
Yes, it's real. No, you can't touch it. :wav:

Some hair just takes an eternity to dry. It's a common complaint among curlies. :) The only solution is diffuse.

Not sure where you're getting that information?? Porous and fine hair generally like protein. Coarse hair usually does not, or is pickier about what proteins it likes.

My hair is fine/low porosity and never met a protein it didn't like. I do at least one PT a week and use a lot of products with protein.

My naked, chin length, low density hair takes about 5 or 6 hours to dry with a little diffusing. Now that I use products, I use two types of curl towels (Curlease and CLU) to get a lot of water out and then diffuse. Cuts it down to a few hours of air drying. That's just how it is.

got out of the shower yesterday morning, put in some LI and scrunched out all my extra water. No styling products. Left the house and went to lunch and then bowling. My hair was still not dry by the time I got back to my house. lol.

What products are you using? If I use KCCC, my hair takes forever to dry.
