i've watched numerous cat eye tutorials on youtube but still have questions.

1 - whats the best type of liner for the cat eye? i typically use gel liner but alson have kohl and waterproof pencils and even a stila pen type liner.

2 - how do i get the line to wing up and not scrunch when i release holding my eye to draw the line?

    1. I would say gel

    2. Don't pull on your eye. The best way for me is to close my eye as I draw the line, then open it to draw the flick

I like gel, but if I'm in a hurry I'll use a liquid pen. I always put a base on down first (urban decay primer potion + black pencil) because I have super oily lids that can (and will) slowly take off any and all eyeliner/shadow by the end of the day.

Try the spoon method. It sounds crazy but hear me out. If you line a spoon handle next to your eye to get the straight line following your lower lash line. Then flip the spoon over and use the curve to get the right amount of "flick." Boom! Easy cat eye :)

oh thank you so much for that vid!!! she's so cute and animated. i'm going to go try that right now, lol.

and i was just thinking today that maybe the perfect cat eye is made from a combination of different liners. off to try. thanks again to you and rimi!

okay i was so excited i just went and tried this. it got me thinking though...i had a spoon but when i saw her using the spoon to curl her lashes i thought of another tool i had that might be perfect. it's a silicone type thingy just to help you do your mascara without fallout.

check out my pics using the tool. what's cool is that it's got a lot of different angles so i can kind of tweak it to get the kind of line i want. please note i didn't do anything special to my makeup i just applied the cat eye over what i already had on.
