Nylon Underwear

ResRes Posts: 2,911Registered Users
Or really, any underwear that isn't cotton. Do you all get increased irritation or yeast infections when wearing them?

I bought a lot of cute panties lately that are nylon or polyester but they have the cotton crotch. Still, it doesn't seem to help too much especially since the lining of the crotch doesn't always line up for me.

I considered wearing liners with them but I am not sure if that would really help since it is still a barrier making the area less likely to be breatable.

I do get increased irritation from the other underwears. Not yeast infections though, I've only gotten a yeast infection after using Plan B and once while using a Diva Cup (I think from the soap I used on it).

And you're right that the panty liners make it less breathable. I made the same mistake of buying cute underwear and then realizing it was mostly nylon or polyester. I went out and got a pack of cute cotton ones to balance it out. Even besides less irritation with cotton, I just feel my whole butt sweats less!

I second the pantyliners and "freedom" when sleeping! I also use cornstarch in the summertime...helps absorb any wetness and helps keep my drier. I usually use plain ole argo cornstarch or J&J cornstarch baby powder (do NOT use the regular baby powder because it has talc).

It seems like a lot of VS undies are not made out of cotton... The stretchy ones? I honestly avoid wearing those since they make me feel...

    ~unfresh~

LOL. I mean, I think that if I sweat, I sweat more in the non-cotton undies. And I feel like I'm suffocating. I usually wear lace or cotton anyway.

You can be at risk for getting yeast infections, but just do not wear any underwear at night (you shouldn't, let yourself breathe) and I think you should be fine.

I have going without underwear while sleeping.

I am glad I have a lot of cotton undies. But I do really love the look of the others I got so maybe I will try a liner.

Sleeping without underwear has helped a lot.

Maybe I will try the nylon panties again but I got some jockey panties. :)

Pretty much all my underwear is made of modal. Very light and breathable. (I buy the modal thongs from Target w/ no elastic...like wearing nothing at all!)

Cotton undies cause some clothing to cling and ride up, so with some things I definitely wear nylon. I can't tell that I sweat any more with nylon.

I always use a liner with any and have always gone commando at night - I thought until fairly recently that all women knew to do that but was surprised on one of those doctor shows at the women in the audience who had never heard of it. The docs definitely concurred that 'it' should be allowed to breath when possible.
    2C/3A/3B - modified CG - fairly fine now, normal/low porosity/normal elasticity

Current Main Rotation: MG217 medicated or Aim2Health 'poos for scalp, Elucence cond., Spiral Solutions Protein & Deeply Decadent Cond., CJCCCC reg or lite,CJ Pattern Pusha,, Giovanni LA Hold Hair Spritz + lots more, sporadically

HG Method: Super Soaker + Smasters-ing, brief upside down diffusing w/360o diffuser then clips/clamps & air dry. Newly gray - stopped my henna glosses!

What kind of liner do you wear? Cotton ones by a brand like Lunapads or regular store bought ones?

    I might try doing this.

Yes! Best underwear I have ever worn.

Yes!! I'm extremely sensitive to irritation. I can only wear cotton, or lace with a cotton crotch. If I wear anything else it can only be for a short period of time, with a liner, and I'll probably end up hating myself later. Even pantyhose and tights in the winter create a problem for me.

    I'm go commando when possible.

Worn out iPhone. Need I say more?

I like Kotex Light Days Extra Coverage - Unscented. They're only slightly larger than regular Light Days, but they tend to cover all, or at least most, of the cotton crotch where others don't. They stay in place better than Always and others I've tried, and their topmost layer is quilted so that it doesn't pull away from the pad itself like the others did. They're thinner and don't bunch up.

I've never tried Lunapads or any other non-disposable ones, so I can't comment on them.

I wear mainly cotton. Or thin sheer type ones with cotton lining. I've noticed as I've gained weight mainly around my thighs, I sweat a lot more easier down there.

At night I always feel more comfy with undies on. Even after sex, unless I'm that tired, I at least just put them on. Without them I feel more wet. I have big inner thighs.

I bought some cloth panty liners from etsy.
I am proud of myself because I've gotten over the idea of thinking it gross.
I can't wait to use them! I think it might be good to wear them daily as RCW suggested. Since I am always wet.

I wear panties made of all kinds of fabric and don't have any problems. I often go commando at home and never wear panties (or anything else) to bed.
I think wearing commercial panty liners every day is much more likely to cause irritations and infections (due to the plastic backing which doesn't breath).

I've used them pretty much daily for >30 years with literally no infections, and the only time they caused a bit of irritation was with some scented samples I got one time.

scented anything down there is no good. I can't even use fabric softners with my delicates. I also suggest just plain old white panties in 100% cotton.

I see a lot of arguments for or against daily liners.

I bought a pack of 5 cloth ones off of Etsy. I'm excited to try them.

I think cotton is better for me. I like Hanes, Jockey, and Gap underwear. I don't mind microfiber. And I want to try modal.

But for sexier things I do like my nylon pairs but I can't wear them all day especially with tights or spanx.

If yeast or other irritation is a problem, then be sure to go bottomless at night while sleeping. It will help a great deal to have 8 hours of air circulating freely around the girly bits.

Microfiber fabric (here it explains what it is filadora.com/term/Microfiber) would prevent irritation. It feels soft and smooth as compared with regular synthetic products because microfibers are finer than silk in diameter.
