Shampoo bars?

Fluffy01Fluffy01 Posts: 271Registered Users
Does anyone use these faithfully? If so, which brand? My hair is definitely 3a but fine. I don't want it stripped or too moisturized. I tried Chagrin Valley awhile back and don't remember liking it too much, but I had city water back then and now I have well water. My well water isn't hard at all, so maybe now it might work? Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks! :toothy10:

I've used them since they became popular about four years ago. Only used a CV bar once, it was not a good experience. I narrowed it down to the castor oil.

It's hair properties, rather then hair type that influence your choice of ingredients/products to use. I think it's coarse haired folks that report that they don't care for them (but not sure.) Generally, low porosity folks are positive. And as long as you don't have hard water (soap scum issues) you might have a better experience. Not sure why the city water was an issue, unless it was hard.

I use a lot of really rich products. Feel that the bars remove any residual ingredients, tighten curl and add volume. If it's of interest, pm me.

I use Chagrin valley shampoo bars on my 3a curls and love them! I wash my hair once a week and always follow with an apple cider vinegar rinse. It takes a month or so for your hair to get used to them (scalp gets oily for a while) but once my hair adjusted to them it changed a lot! My hair got curlier, much shinier, and just overall super healthy compared to what it was before! I use cafe moreno, coconut milk, soapnuts and citrus, and have some I haven't tried yet. I hope you like them :) an apple cider vinegar rinse after washing really makes a difference! (My acv rinse is a cup of water and 2-4 tablespoons of acv)
