Have you ever done a cleanse?

Hi there!

I'm doing a cleanse for the first time – Brenda Watson's Flush & Be Fit, to be precise. It's a two week program and I'm on day 5. I'm making sure to get a lot of fiber in my diet and I'm taking flaxseed oil as well. All seems well, no drastic changes, although I have been eliminating better. I've thought of doing a saltwater cleanse sometime... I dunno.

I've also been eating better this week, purchasing organic stuff,... sprouted grain bread, raw honey... :love2:

I'd like to jump start a healthier time in my life! Any tips?

I am actually doing a cleanse right now (master cleanse) myself and am on day 11:toothy8: (day 3 specifically of the MC but 11 of detoxing in general). I have not heard of the particular one that you are doing so I can not offer specific tips, but I have done them before.

Some people are against them and some love them but its all about personal preference and what works for you. The one bit of advice I would give is to make sure that when you discontinue your cleanse you ease back into eating SLOWLY... start with juice, soup broth, then fruits/veggies before you dive in to 'normal foods' so you don't throw your digestive system back into shock.

It does sound like you are continuing with healthy eating already which is great bc so many people are under the misconception that people do cleanses/detox's just to run bk to an unhealthy lifestyle vs as a way to jumpstart a healthy eating program by cleansing out the body first. Again its ab personal choice and we all have to decide how to go ab our lives, but if you need any support or a cleansing buddy:toothy8: for encouragement please let me know!

Do you pee and poop? Cleanses are a scam. Your body is very good at eliminating rubbish. Eat well and drink water.
Fat does not make you fat. It's actually pretty important.

She asked for suggestions to help her on her cleanse not for discouragement or a diss ab what she decided to do. Cleanses are a personal choice like I said in my previous post. Some people LOVE them and some people DON'T. Clearly your one of the people who don't like them (which is fine) but obviously this thread isn't your 'cup of tea' since she asked for motivation and encouragement...not the opposite.

And where did you get that she was NOT eating well?...in her post she states that she was eating organically,etc...and you never asked her WHY she was cleansing. Again...people and their assumptions ab cleanses...MOVING ON!

I do 1-5 day detoxes a couple times a year. I vary the routine depending on what I feel like doing. A typical 5 days would be:
    day 1 total fasting
    day 2 only fruit
    day 3 only veggies
    day 4 salmon, nuts
day 5 all of the above plus beans

I think the terms 'cleanse' and 'detox' have definitely been misused in many cases. I don't see anything scammy about the types of detoxes I do. They make me feel great and remind me how much better real, whole food is than processed food.

ITA w/all of that. I must admit that I too, often use the terms cleanse/detox interchangeably, when depending on what you are doing they are often completely different things. Despite what you are doing, they both have their benefits depending upon how you chose to utilize them and if you make the choice to live a healthy lifestyle.

Yes of course there are always going to be people who go about using cleanses/detoxes as a 'quick fix' way to lose weight only to go bk to unhealthy lifestyles but that is what it is... if its not a detox as an excuse that someone is using it will be a pill, or a surgery, etc. So let everyone live their lives the way they choose to and as long as its not negatively effecting you...MOVE ON!

Thanks Butterfly_Curlz and jeepcurlygirl! It's nice to know I'm not doing something totally bizarre. :happy3:

I've decided to make a switch to "real food" à la 100daysofrealfood.com: Avoiding highly processed foodstuffs, and choosing to eat organic and whole – not low-fat or non-fat, or artificial – just wholesome and real.

Np. Who's to say what is best for who and what will work for who. The MC may do wonders for me while you hate it or vice versa so as long as it makes you feel good and your happy with your results and the way it makes your body feel then I'm all for it and here to provide you support!

Please let us know how the '100 day's' is working out!

Kind of similar to the cabbage soup diet, minus the soup. Only that one goes for 7 days, and by day 5 I'm going a little crazy.

I'm doing a 3 day detox right now. I've had to eat out alot lately which always means too much salt and sugar in everything, so I feel the need to eat clean for a few days.
All fruit today, all veg tomorrow, all protein the next day.
