ACV rinse

CubanwavyCubanwavy Posts: 293Registered Users
Back in the 'old days' we used to do the vinegar rinse after washing hair but at the time I don't believe we had any conditioner/creme rinse. Those of you who are doing ACV rinse, when do you do it, after rinse out conditioner?

Yep, as the last step in my shower routine (when I do it). After RO but before LI. :)

Thanks. I was wondering when to do it. All this information is so confusing, I don't know when to do anything anymore.

I think I need I need to do an AVC rinse, but I also need to do a deep condition. Can I do the deep condition then the AVC, then the leave-in all in one process?

I'd like to try it this weekend to see if I can get some of the dry feeling out of my hair.

The order in which to use your products depends on what you want to accomplish.
When you're using the ACV to cleanse/clarify your hair you use more of the ACV (has a bit of drying effect that way) so then I would recommend DC after the ACV.

But if you want the ACV to deminish the minerals that are in the (tap) water that can cause build-up, like calcium, I would recommend to do the ACV after (low) poo/co-wash and before DC/RO.

I use about 1 teaspoon in 8 oz. water in this case.
We have a lot of calcium in the water so after this mild ACV rinse my hair doesn't need so much conditioner than without the ACV.

It is also possible to use ACV to just add some shine to your hair and close the cuticle after washing/conditioning, then you can use the mild ACV-rinse to be the last rinse before your LI a/o styling products.

Some people may use other amounts of ACV (or in a different order), this is just the way I do it and you may need to adjust the amounts to your needs.

    Hi Cuban,
I use vinegar rinse after I wash my hair with natural soap bars. I understand the soap raises the cutical so I put the cutical back down with the vinegar.

I got a great tip from KathyMack. I put the vinegar in a spray bottle. one part vinegar, 7 parts water and spray it on after the soap wash.

@rapunzel4ever - Thanks so much for the info. It definitely made sense on when and why to do this.

I keep my vinegar rinse in a spray bottle too. I spray it on top of my R/O to close the cuticle around it. I'm not sure if it works, but that is what I'm trying to accomplish. I rinse with water afterward. I like the results.
