Has the new hair typing system changed for 2's on NC.com?
I thought it was originally more about fine/med/course hair when 'a' stood for fine to 'c' stood for course.
Now it is more like Fia-typing sysem?
I'm confused..

I'm not sure. The descriptions read like they've changed, but the details read like they haven't changed.

Plus, people keep using the a/b/c system to talk about degree of curl, instead of fine/med/course, so it's all over the place.

That's why I ignore descriptors about amount of curl, and focus on other gossamer girls :)

Hair: Very fine, normal porous (Finally! Yay!), normal elasticity, loves high dew points.
Daily: Nature's Gate Tea Tree shampoo, GVP CB, Cure Care conditioner, aloe vera gel, Jessicurls products, Spiral Solutions products.
    Monthly: Henna
As needed: John Masters Organics Sea Mist
HG Product: BioSilk Rock Hard Gelee (aka BRHG. It even has HG in the name!)
    Last perm: 12/10/10
    CG since: 3/9/12
    Last haircut: 4/17/12

I never saw the a/b/c as solely a texture thing. If I'm a "wavy" I'd be a 2 and since it's fine, if I followed that I'd be a 2a. But I have way more curl than the 2a pics. Visually my hair looks like the new 2c pic, but it sure as heck ain't coarse. So eff it. I ignore the hair types anymore. I know what my hair properties are and they can't be shoved into any one of the types, so that's all that matters really.
 fine, thin, normal/(low?) porosity. Mod-CG. Usually I can't co-wash more than 1x a week, & sometimes I have to use T-Gel in rotation due to scalp issues.

    Co-wash: VO5 Volumizing
    Poo: Giovanni 50:50
RO:TN, Nexxus Youth Renewal, Alba Coconut
    LI: KCKT
    PT: gelatin PT, ION EC
Stylers: Giovanni mousse, TIGI Curls Rock amplifier (a-cone), Curls Rock Strong Hold Mousse
    Gels: SCC spray gel

I have two apps on my phone from NC.com, CurlTalk and Curls on the go. (I'm obsessed with my hair lol) and on Curls On The Go, I could be described as 3a (definite S shape, curls are big shiny and bouncy) but on naturally curly.com I sound more like a 2c. And the descriptions for each type are different on both even tho they are made by the same website, so idk. I'm just saying screw it. I'm 2c/3a I guess (:

Haha, it is confusing enough :laughing6: I wish there would be a typing system by fine-course, thin-dense, porous-non porous and protein sensitive or not. Seems to me that says more about how to take care of your curls than just by the curlformation. I am a 2 but I get a lot of tips from the 3's just by looking at their hair properties...well, whatever :toothy6:

I was always under the impression that the a-c is just to determine curl size within a category (2-4), not for texture, but rather texture is it's own separate thing to be listed.

FIA system uses this approach, but NC.com is still using Andre Walker's system, which incorporates texture into the typing system. For example, by FIA I might be a 3a, but I could be a 2c as well. In Andre Walker's system I fall clearly into 3a because of my hair's fine texture (2c is described as coarse hair, 3a is described as fine).
