Newbie but Not a Neo..

I'm new to the board.. I have 4a hair (obviously) and right now I'm looking to retain at least 3 inches of hair by the end of this year. I've been eating the hair in sew-in's but have decided to wear my hair got the least coupe of months.

My hair has been dyed (no apparent damage from the dye) but I do have heat damage in the very front due to flat ironing my leave out with weave (which is the reason my BF has encouraged me to "quit" my weave besides the fact that he hates weave and make up).

My hair is neck length when experiencing shrinkage. Its about an inch and a half away from APL when stretched. My immediate goal is to get my hair to be at least SL when its not stretched.. I hope to get to this goal by the end of this year. And I want to grow the front which is much shorter to about neck length within the same time frame.

I've been rocking wash n go's as of the past month. And I've been oiling my scalp with Dr. Miracles oil. Co washing each week. Using Aussie leave in and water.. Sealing with evoo. Defining with ors hold pudding and olive oil eco styler gel. I plan on using monistat pretty soon here.. But I guess my question is how can I tweak my regimen to achieve maximum retention. And am I on the right track..

Note: I'm a poor college student so I'm interested on achieving this on a budget.

Please ladies help me out! Hopefully I can get some beautiful haired ladies to adopt me as their hair sister or daughter lol.. (or fitness buddy if anyone is interested... I'm trying to be fine as wine in year 21 which is fast approaching = 7.22)

For me length retention = not doing wash and gos. Otherwise it sounds like you're doing fine - you haven't mentioned any hair issues that would trigger me into thinking you need to change products. Heck, you didn't say anything about knots or breakage so it seems like your styling choice works for you too.
    Just be patient and consistent.
My hair is in the 4s, low in porosity, high in density and coarse. :happy6:

Love: QB - all of it, Bobeam - shampoo bars, Darcy's Botanicals - Pumpkin Seed Conditioner, Coconut Cupuacu Pomade, KBN - Shealoe Leave-in, Oyin - Juices & Berries, Kinky Curly - Knot Today, Ayurvedic treatments, my Denman and the cloud of kinky goodness on my head that I get to play with! :love8:

I have nothing to add to what Jo said. But I was wondering what does your headline mean?
Yes, it's real. No, you can't touch it. :wav:

Oh lol just my weird humor.. Like I'm a newbie because I'm new to the forum but I'm not a neophyte (new) to this natural hair journey

Are there any special yet easy protective styles I can try. I'm not experiencing any breakage but I would love the ease of a protective style...

Plus do you ladies know if any supplements or products I could add to my regimen to maximize my monthly growth.. i.e. vitamins, mtg like products, etc?

Thanks for responding ladies.. I genuinely appreciate it :)

For a special & easy protective style, try a cinnabun. Look on YouTube for tutorials.

Hair grows 'cause your alive so there's no need to try to "maximize growth" with pills & potions. If you want to retain length, focus on your ends not your roots.

P.S. I got the neophyte reference right away cause I'm a word nerd. :study:

As healthy a diet as you can afford. Take 3x a day with plenty water. ;-)
